King George Sailing Club was founded more than 40 years ago to provide dinghy sailing and windsurfing on the largest, and best sailing water in north London. The club has an active membership engaged in racing and learning to sail dinghies and windsurfers. For more information about how to join the club for as little as 231 pa and access our training program, email enquiries@kgsc.org.uk for more details.
The Optimist team is currently sailing every Sunday and is in the process of organising our winter schedule. The club reopened in May for "buddy" sailing and more recently we have started to organise on the water races. New members are welcome and formal training is hoping to start in July based on guidance from the RYA return to boating guidelines.

Services
King George is one of the largest inland places to windsurf in North East London and the Home Counties. Whatever the wind is doin, ; KGSC is situated high above the surrounding landscape so the wind strength is generally 5 knots higher. On a windy day it is typical to see advanced windsurfers blasting, whilst beginners and intermediates are progressing on flatter parts of the water.
KGSC is a non-commercial club that operates for its members. For members to dinghy sail on the reservoir, they need to be at least RYA Level 2 standard and able to buddy sail (provide safety cover for another boat). KGSC periodically runs courses to assist those that want to become new members to achieve the required standard and consolidate their knowledge and skills.
The King George flotilla was set-up in 2019 and is an all-year-round Optimist sailing group for children aged 7-14. The club has ten club Optibats, thereby allowing the children to sample the sport without needing to buy their own boat. New sailors are encouraged to learn there stage one and two at commercial centres such as Fairlop Water and London Docklands.
Members arrive at this time for regular sailing, so please introduce yourself and they will grant you access. The gate must always remain closed (as per Thames Water instructions). Once you become a member, you will be provided with a key so that you can come and go as you please. Send a booking request to enquiries@kgsc.org.uk to reserve your place.
Club members should have received a welcome message from Dutyman which contains login details. On the right hand panel there is a box marked "Click for a log in reminder". Click this and on the next page type the email address that you registered with the club, and click "Send Welcome Message". You will then receive the welcome email with a personalised link.

Great place locally to sail. Okay the facilities need bringing up to date, but the committee are working hard to improve this place. Amazing piece of water to sail on and if you're up for the challenge you can enter a race.
I highly recommend getting in touch with the club and asking about going for a open day.
