Ananda Marga is the name of the system which allows us to do just that. It is an optimal selection of those techniques and practices that lead to the total experience of infinite peace and happiness - what we call "self-realisation." It is an ideology and way of life; a systematic and scientific process for the fulfillment of all human needs: physical, mental and spiritual.
It is introversial, intuitional practice; with techniques ranging from personal hygiene to yoga postures; from social service to meditation. Its goal is the all-round elevation of human beings, both individually and collectively, in all spheres of human existence: individual, social, economic, intellectual and spiritual.

Meditation has been described as a kind of concentrated thinking, but this does not mean just any kind of concentrated thinking. Concentrating on a pet rock or an ice cream is not meditation. Meditation is the process of concentrating the mind on the source of consciousness within us. Gradually this leads us to discover that our own consciousness is infinite.
I am much more emotionally balanced. I am a musician and I can tell you that this is a very real benefit for someone with a somewhat "artistic" temperament. I am more creative. I have always practiced a variety of creative arts, and when I started meditation I felt that I'd tapped into a rich new spring of inspiration, ideas and insights.
Starting your own meditation group is something that is hugely helpful for not just your meditation, but also the meditation of those around you. You see, service is an intrinsic part of meditation, and the best service you can do for others is to help them to progress on the spiritual path. This type of service brings about a type of progress in others that is of a more permanent nature.
Meditation has many proven scientific benefits from stress relief to greater sense of purpose and well-being. Its probably the most natural thing a human can do. The only thing you actually need to practise meditation is a human body (we're working on systems for developed animals, in case you are one and have worked out how to use a computer).
