First Steps Nursery is a privately owned, Ofsted Approved children's nursery, providing birth to pre-school childcare in Oakdale, Poole. We strive to offer continual development to each child on a personal and educational level. Allowing them to gain confidence during their time at nursery and better prepare them for their ongoing journey to school and beyond.

Services
Our nursery has the good fortune of being bright and spacious, with plenty of indoor and outdoor space for the children to enjoy themselves all within in a safe and caring environment. Our Management team are on hand to make sure each day goes according to plan and our nursery cook ensures that all of the children are given plenty of healthy hot food and snacks throughout the day.

Fantastic nursery, the commitment from the team and owners during these tough times is amazing and professional. Always feel welcomed to ask questions and they really work with you to understand your child
My little girl has grown and learnt so much attending this nursery that I sometimes forget she's only 18 months. She's advanced because of all the care and attention the nursery spends on her development and for including me and my husband in which steps they are taking to help her. Cannot fault this nursery at all!

I was so nervous about putting my son into a nursery so I could go back to work, even though he was 2. Everyone at first steps were amazing right from my first enquiry. My son was so shy around anyone apart from family but the girls were so good with him and he came out of himself with them and blossomed so well. He loves going to nursery and we are so pleased with how he is getting on here. Every one in the nursery is so dedicated to the children and communication is always brilliant. We love First Steps. Our son joined at 12 months old and all of the staff in baby and toddler room have been fantastic. They really take the time to get to know your child and he talks about his key workers all the time. As a first time mum I was really nervous, but they were fantastic from easing him in to helping him with his fussy eating. I loved they had a separate sleep room for the babies that was closely monitored and that they had a separate outside area for younger and older children. We were introduced First Steps from 2 of my friends (who's children attended), over this past year my daughter has grown in confidence and is continuing to thrive. She always comes out with the biggest smile, full of talk about her day, yummy food and what she has learnt throughout the day. The staff are lovely and you can tell they have great bond, love where they work and what they do. Also to add they have been great at keeping us informed during the virus outbreak with regular emails, craft ideas and packs, updates and live Q&A. Cant sing their praises enough 👍

First Steps have an extremely professional, caring, friendly and enthusiastic team and safe environment. They take great care of my children who are always happy to be there. The Management team are incredible. They have been exceptionally supportive and understanding , especially during the covid outbreak . I would highly recommend First Steps. I have been very particular about the Nursery I send my kids to and had bad experiences in the past. First Steps are brilliant at what they do. My son and daughter always come home happy and love their teachers. They feel safe and secure at all times.

We have been using first steps since 2012 and our youngest child is about to join early years. The care and professionalism provided by all the staff has been exceptional. I think of the staff as friends as we have known most of the girls for almost as long as our kids🤣 During the covid pandemic it has been strange times all round and once again the staff have excelled. As keyworker parents we have been privileged to having childcare and the staff have continued to welcome our kids and go above and beyond. Very dedicated and passionate staff :)
All my children have been attending First Steps since 2014 and we have nothing but praise and upmost respect for all the staff and the management team.
We live out of area and travel an hour each way so our little and not so little ones can attend because we wouldn’t trust anyone one else to support and care for our children.
The attention to detail for learning and safeguards in place are outstanding and nothing is ever a bother for staff and management.

Putting my son in this nursery 4 years ago was the best decision I could have made for him. As a first time Mum going back to work I was nervous about anyone looking after my child but the team at First Steps immediately put me at ease. They run an amazing facility with a great, enthusiastic and dedicated staff. They have helped my son grow into a confident young man and more than prepared him for life at school. Both of my children have been attending First Steps for over 5 years and I couldn't have chosen a better nursery! They have been through the baby unit, into the toddler room, thrived throughout their pre-school years and now attend the before and after-school club. The staff are absolutely wonderful, they really care about the children and have fun with them. They organise wonderful activities that keep the children engaged and are educational at the same time. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this nursery to all who ask.
