Ashtanga Yoga Manchester offers classes and workshops for all bodies in Manchester and now via zoom. Yoga is a space to slow down & re-connect with body and breath, living life to its full potential, stronger in our bodies open in our hearts. This class is based on the Ashtanga Vinyasa System and aims to build your core strength & pelvic floor connection.
Through developing the ability to manage your breath, you will be able to relax the nervous system, leading to a healthy mind and body. The intelligent sequencing of the Ashtanga Vinyasa System with breath awareness will open the body, bringing strength, stability, focus and support the development of inner alignment and awareness.

Hatha Yoga was orginally only concerned with balancing the function of our breath, there were originally only very few postures that were practiced, these postures were primaarily concerned with the movement of pranic energy. Over time more postures were introduced that took out the impurities from the body opening up the body to allow the pranic current to be liberated.
Pranayama is the extension or expansion of the vital energy or life force and refers quite literally to the breath. The techniques of pranayama provide the method by which the life force can be activated and regulated. This practice helps to develop emotional strength and balance, moving beyond limited and conditioned thinking.
We always welcome newcomers to this often mis-understood approach to the practice of Yoga Asana, the sequence of asana is based on the Ashtanga Vinyasa sequence but tailored for you and your specific needs.
It's like having a one to one yoga session within the energy of a supportive group, the repetition of postures helps you to drop mindfully into the present moment cultivating a deeper connection with body and breath, overcoming obstacles on and off the mat. This intelligent sequence opens the body safely and gently, building as you and your practice grows.

A private one-to-one session is tailored made to suit your own individual needs. It is an ideal opportunity to take the practice at your own pace and the most ideal way to learn yoga. Sessions can be designed to concentrate on the more therapeutic nature of breathing and postures. It is also an ideal way of learning the ashtanga system of hatha yoga.
I set up Ashtanga Yoga Manchester in 2007 to teach an holistic approach to Ashtanga Yoga (the 8 limbed approach) and make it accessible to all bodies. Yoga has helped me to be more accepting of myself and accepting of this moment. By connecting with breath and body, Yoga can help us to move effortlessly through the obstacles on and off the mat.

I have attended classes and workshops ran by Ashtanga Yoga Manchester and from attending 'Yoga' classes elsewhere, what really sets your experience apart is your teacher. Vicki makes 'Yoga' accessible to every'body' at every level. She is always warm and approachable, her teaching style is fun yet deeply rooted by incredibly in-depth knowledge and understanding into the science and philosophy behind Yoga. If you wish to quieten your mind, change your life and leave feeling inspired I cannot recommend highly enough!

I been doing Yoga with Vicky on Thursday nights recently and I do enjoy the sessions to improve strength and flexibility. I have also done the breath of life workshop 3 times and I have developed some Parayama techniques. I enjoy them and hope to continue working on the sequence after doing a round of 6 weeks

Guides the student to develop an intelligent and personal approach to self practice. I haven't had a single injury since I started practising with vicki, and I'm learning to connect more in my practise without all the unnecessary straining and tension that often comes with similar styles of yoga.
Highly recommended.
