Services
Originally, the land surrounding Roding Primary School was part of a large site owned by Barnardos, the children's charity. In 1913, The Woodford Bridge Garden City Council Elementary School was opened for boys from the local Dr. Barnardo's Home. The school was located near the Menzies London Chigwell Hotel (formerly The Prince Regent).
We are a Rights Respecting School. This is supported by the principles of the UNCRC (United Convention on the Rights of every Child), adopted and promoted through UNICEF. Children's rights are at the heart of the school. The aim is that these exist as part of our ethos and culture and as a result will improve well-being and develop every child's talents and abilities to their full potential.
At Roding we believe that we have a duty to emphasise the link between the way in which children learn and their social knowledge and behaviour. In doing this, the focus is upon establishing positive relationships across three elements -self, others and the curriculum. They apply as much to adults and their relationship with children, as much as they apply to the children themselves.
We believe that every member of the Roding community has responsibility for ensuring the safety and well being of every child at all times. The school follows the London Borough of Redbridge guidelines & has its own policy. All staff have a duty of care and are expected to be proactive with reporting matters around child protection, including concerns/suspicions around radicalisation, female genital mutilation, and online safety.
The Governing body plays an important role in the life of our school and works with the Headteacher to maintain standards and plan improvements. Parents are encouraged to think about becoming a governor when vacancies arise. Being a governor means helping plan activities, helping with parents' meetings and representing all the parents at the governors' meetings when decisions are made to ensure a good education for your child.
