Hampden Gurney School
Our school vision is deeply rooted in the theology and Biblical teachings of Matthew 7:7 which speaks of the importance of prayer as a way of developing an enriched life and personal relationship with God as Father, Son and Holy Spirit. At the heart of our school community is a commitment to prayer and worship.

Our curriculum provides children with a thirst for knowledge and wisdom, a high level of challenge and a deep understanding that we are all equal and made in the image of God. Our relationships with each other, our local community and global companions leads us to want to care and serve others.
Services
At Hampden Gurney all students experience a rich tapestry of historical enquiry. History is taught within an environment which encourages pupils to become resourceful in their approach to work, and to build on basic skills as they progress through the various units and projects offered. All classes capitalise on our fantastic location and organise excursions to some of the amazing historical locations in and around London.
It is a great privilege for me to have the opportunity of leading a team of enthusiastic, professional and dedicated staff who aim to create a school where every pupil will flourish. From the outset the school has established a tradition of an education underpinned by a Christian ethos, providing individuals with stimulating intellectual challenges and wide ranging opportunities to develop personal excellence.
Collective worship is held each day except for Thursdays when there is a celebration of the Eucharist. Commmunion is led by Father Lincoln Harvey of the Church of the Annunciation, Marble Arch, who takes Mass with the support of a number of Year 6 pupils who act as servers. Pupils from Y2 - Y6 are encourage to offer a reading from the bible and offer prayers during the service.
Hampden Gurney is a Church of England Voluntary Aided Primary School in the Diocese of London. It is a parochial school owned by private parish trustees, maintained by Westminster City Council and serves a wide Christian Community. Hampden Gurney School was established in 1863 as a memorial to the Reverend John Hampden Gurney, former Vicar of St Mary's, Bryanston Square.
Hampden Gurney's Governing Body works as a team with the Headteacher and the school staff, helping to provide a vibrant, imaginative and good quality education for the children at the school. Their contribution includes: agreeing the school's aims, policies, targets and priorities, overseeing the financing of the school and helping to monitor the curriculum.
