Our intent is that our teaching of History will help pupils gain a coherent knowledge and understanding of Britain's past and that of the wider world. We aim for it to inspire pupils' curiosity about the past and to know more about the past. We aim to enable children to ask perceptive questions, think critically, weigh evidence, sift arguments, and develop perspective and judgement.
Through the teaching of History, we endeavor to teach children to understand the complexity of people's lives, the process of change, the diversity of societies and relationships between different groups, as well as their own identity and the challenges of their time. History lessons focus on developing historical skills and children working as historians.

Our vision is for Barry Primary School to be an excellent school. We not only strive for high academic achievements for children, but have the ambition for everyone to achieve their fullest potential in a far broader sense, celebrating creativity, individuality, integrity and diversity.
At Barry Primary School we are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and require all staff, volunteers and visitors to share this commitment. If you have any concerns about a child and think that they may be at risk of harm, please contact one of our Safeguarding Leads in school.
This is an exciting time for Barry Primary School as we respond to local and national changes involving Special Educational Needs (SEN) and Inclusion. Last year saw the Government producing a new SEN Code of Practice and changes to the Statementing process which is transferring to a new Education and Health Care plan system (EHC).

This is an excellent primary school with good nursery provison. The school is housed in Victorian buildings which really add to the atmosphere. The children and staff are happy and work hard, an ethos of mutual respect and valuing the individual is central to this school's beliefs. The school is very well established and respected within the local community. My daughter goes here and has always been very happy. They have a swimming pool and an extra sports pavilion and sports centre nearby. A multi cultural school with provision for disabled children, the children achieve well and are secure
