Lough View Integrated Primary is a Grant Maintained Integrated primary school situated in a semi-rural location in the Castlereagh Hills. The school's catchment extends in all directions drawing pupils from both of the main religious/cultural backgrounds as well as children from other backgrounds. We have 2 form entry from Year 1 to 7 and 2 nursery classes.
At that time, there were only two integrated primary schools in Belfast and demand far outstripped the number of places available. Lough View's establishment provided an integrated education opportunity for parents in Castlereagh and the greater Belfast area that extends beyond the council area's boundaries.
Our school is managed by a Board of Governors who work in conjunction with the Principal. The Lough View Board has sixteen members made up of the following: four parent governors, two teacher governors, four Department of Education governors and six Foundation governors. All members serve a four year term.
Lough View has two form entry throughout the school, meaning there are two teachers within each year group. Three additional teachers form our Learning Support team. Additional classroom support is provided by a team of dedicated classroom assistants. The children are also supported by our lunchtime supervisors.
Our motto at Lough View is 'learning and growing together' and accordingly we seek to provide a school curriculum that promotes this core belief. The learning and teaching in Lough View is rooted in the NI curriculum, which is the starting point for a broad, balanced and activity based curriculum that meets the needs of all our pupils.
