Services
Shaw & Whitley Pre-School was established over 35 years ago and takes children between the ages of 2 years and 4 years. It is a registered charity run by a committee of volunteers/parents/guardians according to the terms of the constitution and is responsible for ensuring the successful running of the setting.
Everyone is welcome at our AGM, which is held in the middle of the autumn term. This is when the committee is elected, and when we review the year and look at our plans for the future. The Pre-School committee meets regularly during the year - usually about every six weeks during term time. We'd love to hear from you at any time if you would like to get involved and join the committee.
Each day the hall is set up with a variety of activities (two days are never the same) for the children to self select from. These cover all areas of the Early Years Foundation Stage. The children enjoy free flow access to the garden area outside the hall where they can enjoy lots of different activities.
Interactive resources and games for children and information for parents to support learning. Watch and interact with fun stories for young children from your favourite CBeebies shows. Play along with the fun and friendly letters of the alphabet as they work together to make words and tell stories using phonics.
Throughout the day, the children have a choice of the activities and resources they can access, with planned, small and large group times during each session providing maximum opportunities and experiences over the day enabling the children to work towards the Early Learning Goals and preparing them for primary school.

I have a son at Shaw & Whitley Pre-school who loves it, as did his elder brother. What I find refreshing and different from the other options I looked at, is the lovely, family, relaxed atmosphere. All the staff are parents themselves and nothing seems to faze them. They were incredibly flexible when my son started and allowed me to settle him in at our own pace so everyone was happy.
There are no minimum hours either so even if you don't need child care for work reasons you can still come along. My son started off with just two short mornings.
