Services
The Willows Preschool is registered to apply for Free Entitlement Funding and does so on behalf of all those eligible. This takes effect at the start of the term following your child's third birthday. Each child is entitled to fifteen hours per week of funding and this can be taken over a number of days, with a minimum of 2.5 hours claimed for each day.
At The Willows we follow the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS), a statutory framework that sets the standard for the learning, development and care of children from birth to 5 years old. The non-statutory Development Matters has 7 areas of learning and development; 3 prime areas and 4 specific areas.
Children who are booked in for the whole day will need to bring a packed lunch with them. This should consist of a healthy meal and drink, and include ice packs if necessary. The Willows has only a small fridge and cannot store lunches in it. Please ask any staff member if you would like to talk about lunch box contents or to get an idea of what other children bring.
At The Willows we use our outdoor area every day and encourage all of the children to spend some time outdoors. We have a variety of resources such as trikes, scooters and ride-ons, as well as bats, balls and hoops. We have a grassy area with a willow dome, vegetable patch and compost area and a harder surface where we have a soil pit for the children to dig in and explore.
At The Willows we understand the importance of the relationships between keyperson, child and family. We strive to provide excellent emotional support and to develop strong attachments with the children attending. We take each child and family individually and look at the best way to support the child's transition, and attachment to the parents, within the preschool.

Our son loved his time at The Willows. He always had something fun to tell us about! The staff are lovely and our son definitely formed good relationships with them quickly. We loved the fact the preschool is within the school grounds and they enjoy PE in the school hall. They even enjoyed stories with the reception teacher in her class, way before starting school. This was fundamental in helping our son settle into school the following year. Thank you Willows 😊
