We are located in the centre of Ware High Street at No 61, the pink building with the clock. There are numerous car parks located near the practice, Ware Library, Kibes Lane and Tesco, along with local bus routes stopping near by and Ware train station only a 10 minute walk away. Please allow plenty of time for your eye examination, 40 mins, and choosing spectacles if required.
Services
Vallancey and Mary Bramley graduated from Glasgow Caledonian in 1987 and went their separate ways to finish their Optometry qualifications. They have both worked in small and large independent practices and also large multiples across the South of England. Mary never really left Aves, working here part-time over the years.
This can be daunting without the right help, but we are here to make this an enjoyable and affordable experience. The appearance, comfort and feel of new spectacles depend as much on the lenses you choose as the style of the frame. It is important to select frames which will suit your face and complement the lenses you need.
At Aves Optometrists, we have been fitting contact lenses for over 30 years, and have the experience in fitting a wide variety of lenses from the modern daily or Silicone Hydrogel lenses to the more complex and traditional gas permeable lenses. We have access, through our suppliers, to a wide variety of lenses, enabling us to impartially select the lenses most suitable for each patient's individual visual requirement.
Adult eye examinations take approximately 40 minutes and cost 55 which includes an Optomap Imaging. The NHS does not cover this modern technique but we are able to offer it for 20. When you attend your eye examination you will be taken to a room full of equipment. To the first-timer this can be daunting, but there really is nothing to worry about.
Children who are under 16 and students under the age of 19 in full time education receive an NHS funded eye examination. Our optometrists recommend that all children have Optomap Imaging done as part of their eye examinations. Eye examinations for ages 13 and under take approximately 20 minutes and children 14 or older take approximately 40 minutes.

Strange practice. I have friends who have applied as Optometrists at this practice but due to being non-caucasian, they were not invited to interview. They have a very small number of non-caucasian staff, however, I'm not entirely convinced that these people work here (They may have worked in the past and photos kept on the website to demonstrate 'diversity').

Wow! I cannot recommend these guys enough. I didn’t have the greatest experience with my last optician so came to Aves on the off-chance and my goodness, I’m glad I did. The service, care and attention to detail you receive is second to none. I have never met such a universally nice group of people - often you’ll have one or two particularly nice people but no… not here… EVERYONE I encountered for both myself and my daughter were exceptionally kind and friendly while also doing their respective jobs outstandingly. I've been wearing glasses for over 30 years and Aves are the first place to get my prescription and fitting "right first time" in decades. The extra attention to detail made such a difference to my experience and sticking to the safety rules made me feel safe to visit. You'll pay more, but it's worth it for the excellent service.

I left the popular Optometrist in our town whom I've been seeing for over 30 years and choose Aves in Ware which is a long long drive away because Aves have installed special air filtration and/or open doors, windows, strict disinfection and isolation in waiting room via cubicles for each patient. Why haven't all other opticians done this during the pandemic? I felt as safe as possible at Aves.

Went to these guys after being with spec savers for a long time .
Wow! Amazing service maybe slightly pricier but didn’t care as service was outstanding and considering specsavers tried me with contacts and as I didn’t get on with them they just forgot about it and didn’t try to help me. These guys have gone above and beyond to help me with contact lenses to get the right ones.wont go anywhere else now .👍🏻
