At your appointment, your eyes will be thoroughly checked to ensure that you have the healthiest possible vision. If you then need new spectacles or other products, we can advise on the best options for you. Our detailed eye examination will detect any eye problems such as glaucoma, cataracts and macular degeneration in addition to other general health issues such as high blood pressure and diabetes.
Contact lenses can be for occasional or regular wear. They are replaced on a daily, 2-weekly and 1, 3 or 6 monthly basis or longer for wearers of gas permeable or special lenses. We have contact lenses available for most prescriptions including people with astigmatism, multifocal or complex needs. For our contact lens patients, we offer a regular assessment to make sure that you are getting the best out of your contact lenses.
Going beyond the surface or a 2D image, our state of the art OCT machine is able to take a 3D scan of multiple layers of your eye. Using this technology, we are able to spot any small changes over time and, in turn, detect anything unusual that may not be visible using a typical retinal image or standard eye examination.

Have used Skye for the first time this week and was delighted to find Sam is now working here having used a different opticians previously. Sam is professional yet warm & friendly and is a star at helping find exactly the right pair of glasses without having to try on 30 pairs. The fit is always perfect. I was also impressed with David who did my eye test which was thorough; I felt re-assured and confident with his advice. I'm very happy to have found a new opticians I can see myself using for many years to come

I am so delighted I have found Skye Optometrists. After some unsatisfactory experiences with other opticians, Skye were recommended to me by a consultant ophthalmologist at Spire Harpenden and the service I received from the optician and from dispenser Julie was quite faultless. I would also like to commend the delightful receptionist who clearly is proud of what she does, and does it well.

Skye Optometrists are brilliant. I first visited them some years ago when I first discovered I have dyslexia and that colorimetry could help with it. I was guided through that bizarre alien world by Mariam Bhojani and left with glasses that quite literally changed my life.
I visited Skye Optometrists again in March (2021) when it became apparent that I needed new glasses. Their customer service and standards had not been affected by the Covid Pandemic and inspite of the restrictions I received a very professional service every step of the way, from initial contact enquiry to collection and fitting

Excellent service and care at Skye from the eye test, through the glasses selection, measurements and fitting. This was my first appointment with Skye, booked after seeing excellent reviews and I wasn't disappointed. Sen took time to help me select the perfect frames to fit a small face and to ensure the lenses are perfect. Would thoroughly recommend.

I have recently had an eye test with David Fleming at Skye optometrist in Harpenden, as a contact lense wearer I was experiencing dry eyes and my contact use had become limited. David spent time working with me and used his experience and knowledge to advise and recommend a new and free trial lenses. I am so thrilled to be wearing my new lenses for longer with continued comfort!!
The new range of glasses is exciting and enticing, so I purchased new glasses for myself and both of my teenagers, we now all feel confident with our new 🤓 glasses.
