Premier Independent Optometrist & Opticians located on Barkingside High Street, Ilford, Essex. We are located right next door to the Iceland supermarket. Ellis Bass Optometrists is an independent practice, established since 2004. It is owned and run by husband and wife team Faisal and Elyshah Bashir, both qualified optometrists who are registered with the General Optical Council, Harley Street, London.
Being an independent practice, we are able to offer completely impartial advice - our recommendations are based on what is best for you - the patient - and not dictated to us by head office. The practice has an excellent clinical reputation which has built up some very good relationships with other medical health care professionals such as local GP's and the local eye hospital services.

Services
As parents are planning their children's return to school, its also important to make sure that every child has good vision. Many vision problems begin at an early age and children don't always communicate if they are having difficulty seeing. According to the Eyecare Trust, upto 1 million children in the UK currently have an undetected vision problem which can have a major impact on the child's education and life.
We are located on Barkingside High Street, Ilford, Essex, located next door to Iceland and McDonalds. There are excellent transport links to the High Street. Barkingside Underground station is a 5-8 minute walk away from our practice. The station is served by the central line and is an approximately 15 minute journey from Stratford Station.

I went to this optician for my 2nd eye test recently. I am really pleased with my experience. The shop lounge is welcoming, kept very clean with social distance markings and seating
Faisal the optician is very approachable, well spoken and demonstrates substantial experience in understanding the anatomy of eyes. He used the latest eye technology to test my deteriorating eye site. He was able show me pictures of behind the eye and explained how the blood flows in to my eyes. He explained every step and the relevance of specific tests he was conducting.
This optician does private as well as NHS

I today took my three year old daughter as we had a few concerns regarding her vision. She was comprehensively examined with great care and humility. As children of this age have a tendancy to play up, it was great to see how accomodating and patient all staff were with her.

Fantastic Staff Fantastic first time experience at Ellis Bass for my 5 year old daughter. Elly the optometrist was brilliant with my daughter she was professional and warming, my daughter couldn't stop telling me how it was the best eye appointment she has had. Honestly I have never heard such positive comments from my daughter after her eye checks- she said ‘the optician lady was really nice to me’ and ‘she made it fun for me’. A BIG THANK YOU!

A friendly family run business who always make you feel welcome in their shop.
With a wide range of frames to chose from, Ellis Bass are very accommodating and happy to order other brands which aren’t in stock, within a quick turnaround.
Both optometrists are very professional and always up to date with high tech equipment for various eye tests.
There is always a nice atmosphere and I feel very comfortable, I even get tea and biscuits while I wait. There is no stress with parking either, plenty of available spaces. Thanks Ellis Bass. I’ll be back for more Versace’s !

I had trouble finding Ellis Optometrists the first time, probably because I had broken my glasses. I eventually found my way there and the man who greeted me was very helpful. Well at least, I thought he was a man. Turned out it was a woman with a deep voice but how was I to know without my specs?. Ellis are a bit more expensive than going to Boots Opticians across the road. Probably because Ellis deal solely with improving vision whereas boots also develop your photos and prescribe you Diarrhoea pills.
But what you get with Ellis is a far more thorough experience in terms of testing your vision
