Services
Situated in the the heart of Belmont in East Belfast, Belmont Primary has been catering for the educational needs of local children since we first opened our doors in the historic Belmont Tower in 1890, moving to a new, purpose built school in 1999. At Belmont Primary we pride ourselves on our caring and welcoming ethos, where the individual needs of each and every child are at the core of everything we do.
Our Board of Governors takes an active interest in all areas of school life. The governors aim to enrich each child's experience at Belmont by providing varied activities inside and outside the classroom. They have a detailed role which includes ensuring the safety of all pupils and staff, overseeing all curricular and pastoral policies and practices within the school, monitoring and managing the school's budget and recruiting staff.
Unfortunately, this year we cannot welcome parents to tour our school and hear information about the enrolment process and about Belmont itself. Instead we have organised video conferences with small groups of parents, which we hope you will find useful. We have lots of different dates and times set up so please contact the school on 90 471539 to arrange a time that is convenient for you.
The curriculum followed is based on the Northern Ireland Curriculum, specified under the Education (NI) Order 2006. The learning opportunities are broad and balanced and meet the needs of individual children. By Primary 3 our children learn to play recorders and learn Beginner's Spanish. School trips and visitors are used to enhance learning opportunities throughout the school.
All our pupils are individuals and therefore their starting point is our starting point. By careful observation, discussion and monitoring we tailor the curriculum to meet individual needs. We strongly believe in the importance of play based learning, both inside and outside the classroom. School is a new experience for children and emphasis is placed on attention and listening skills.
