The Veterinary Surgery was owned by Veterinary Surgeon Elisabeth Huntenburg for 13 years and is now run by Vetpartners with a small team of vets and nurses. We are a modern, well equipped small animal veterinary practice, based in Barnsley, offering a professional, personal and friendly service. The Veterinary Surgery is your local vets covering Barnsley, Wakefield, Doncaster, Rotherham and Surrounding Areas.
Services
As a dedicated small animal practice our consultation times take place in the morning and late afternoon/evening. Please ensure that you book a consultation whenever possible as a vet may not be available on short notice. Inbetween consultations the practice is dedicated to operations and monitoring of our in-patients.
People tend to think it's only older pets that get ill and therefore younger pets don't need pet insurance but we know from the patients we see each day that that is not the case. In fact, the younger your pet is when you insure them the better as it means you are less likely to have any existing conditions, which may not be covered by the policy and you can then receive more help covering the cost of any future treatment your pet needs.
In some cases, your pet may need to be referred to a specialist. We have a close relationship with Chantry vets who have the facilities to undertake extensive investigations. The Veterinary Surgery benefits from having connections to a orthopaedic surgeon who is able to work with soft tissue. We can also see advice from a specialist if a referral is not possible.
Diabetes occurs when the body stops making or responding to insulin-a hormone that controls the amount of sugar in the blood. If your pet has the above symptoms and you are concerned that your pet has diabetes please call us at the surgery to arrange an appointment with the Vet. When the body has difficulty in using digested sugar as energy, the high sugar levels in the blood result in sugar and lots of water being passed out in the urine.
It's not something you think about doing on a regular basis, and sometimes the only time your pets teeth will be checked are at their annual vaccination. It is important to check inside your pets mouth regularly, in order to spot any potential problems. The deciduous teeth should start to be pushed out once the adult teeth start to erupt, just like with humans.

I have only recently joined this vetenary practice following a very bad experience with my previous vet, I have found the whole team to be friendly and yet professional and most importantly knowledgeable, they treat my cats with the upmost attention and offer a very caring approach, all in all very good service.
