Equine Veterinary Centre
We are based at Moorhouse Equestrian Centre, just off the Wakefield (A638) Rd on the outskirts of Doncaster, South Yorkshire. Plenty of parking available. We specialise only in the veterinary care of horses, so you can feel confident that you will be seen by a 'horse vet' who has a personal interest in the veterinary care of horses at all times.

We are small enough to offer you a personal and professional approach but big enough to provide a high level of service and 24 hour emergency cover to our registered clients. Use our top tips to ensure you collect an accurate FWEC sample from your horse in order to get an accurate result. We operate a zone visit scheme where we work in your area on the same day each week and offer a reduced visit fee.
Services
We are an equine only practice based at Moorhouse Equestrian Centre, just off the Wakefield (A638) Rd on the outskirts of Doncaster, South Yorkshire. The Equine Veterinary Practice was founded in 1999, by Mr Richard Coppack, who had been in mixed practice in the area for the previous 15 years, whose specialist interest had always lain with horses.
Damien graduated from University of Melbourne, Australia in 1999. He worked for 4 years in mixed/equine practice in Australia before heading off to travel the world as many Australian vets do. Over the next three years he worked as a locum equine vet in various parts of England, Scotland, Ireland and Wales, before settling down with a lovely girl from Yorkshire.
We operate a zone visit scheme where we work in your area on the same day each week and offer a reduced visit fee. If we see 4 or more horses the visit fee will be free of charge. Zone visits are on a set day and for appointments between 9.00am- 5.00pm with a pre-determined veterinary surgeon. If you require a different vet or a later visit then our standard visit fee applies.
Radiographs, also known as x-rays, are particularly useful for imaging bones but can also give us some information about soft tissues. They are most useful for diagnosing fractures, bone infections and tumours, joint diseases such as arthritis and other conditions such as navicular disease and laminitis.
Mares are 'long day breeders' meaning that they usually breed during late spring, summer and early autumn. Mares are also termed seasonally polyoestrous breeders, that means they cycle (have oestrous cycles) many (poly) times per year but only during the breeding season (seasonally). A mare's cycle (oestrous cycle) lasts between 21-23 days.

The outcome for my horse was sadly not good but Damian was lovely. Spud was PTS with dignity and understanding and Damian was kind throughout. Thank you x

Brilliant service, knowledgeable, friendly and caring staff. Wonderful with my mare who came down with laminitis and then had a nasty accident requiring stitches.

Attended to pick some meds for my horse. Parked in the separate carpark. Had to call the office to request the meds to be brought to the carpark for covid safe delivery

I would just like to say how impressed I was with the service we received from Jess and Gabri at this practice. They tried their hardest to save our pony after he was savagely attacked by dogs. Their kindness and compassion was outstanding. Sadly the pony had to be put to sleep. I would not hesitate to recommend this practice to anyone. Thank you once again.

This veterinary centre has a fantastic covid prevention policy in place to help with the spread of the virus between staff and public
It has very friendly staff who will very quickly help you with your problem with your animal.
They will also put you in touch with a vet if you need any help with your horse or pony.
There's an excellent up to date hospital for any reason that your animal needs extra care that can't be provided by you.
For example if your animal needs an operation or x-ray.
The vets are excellent at putting your mind at rest and treatment of your animal. Especially if it's an
