Leadhill Primary School

We aim to provide a broad and balanced curriculum and to develop each child to the utmost of his/her ability (spiritually, emotionally, morally, socially, culturally, intellectually and physically) in a happy, stimulating and challenging environment. We constantly strive to implement the Northern Ireland Curriculum using the child centred approach in which "the joy of childhood and learning" is central to our ethos.

At Leadhill P.S. we recognise the challenges of modern life for our families and understand the difficulties faced by parents in sourcing affordable childcare. For this reason we have created the Leadhill Breakfast Club and After School Provision. After School Club runs from 2pm until 6pm. Children are given a snack and participate in a wide range of fun and engaging activities.

At Leadhill the welfare and happiness of the child is central to our ethos. We aim to provide a friendly and caring environment where children are happy in their learning. We aim to raise the self-esteem of all our pupils and help them feel secure in the knowledge that they are valued members of our school community.

Throughout the year, we offer a range of Extra Curricular Activities for our pupils in P2 upwards. These are provided by staff, volunteers and specialist coaches (vetted by Access NI). Our football team is open to both girls and boys. The football squad has enjoyed participating in matches throughout the year.

Our Pre-School Playgroup provides places for children from 2 years and 10 months. The children have their own enclosed playground beside the playgroup room, but also make good use of the school grounds and other facilities. Our staff have created a welcoming and supportive environment, to give the children a really positive first experience of school.
