At Harpsden Pre-School, we provide a happy, safe and caring environment, free from prejudice and discrimination, for children from 2 to 5 years old. We believe that every child is unique, and our aim is to provide fun, stimulating learning experiences catered to each child's individual needs.

Strong emphasis is placed on learning through play as we believe at this stage in a child's development the learning process should be as interesting and enjoyable as possible. We aim to plan and provide activities and play opportunities to develop your child's emotional, physical, social and intellectual capabilities to their full potential.
Services
I don't believe my son could have had better care and learning. Harpsden Pre-School has been an amazing contribution to my son's development in all areas. After working at Harpsden for the last 5 years I recently qualified as a Forest School Leader and now run a weekly forest school session for our older children.
With a varied curriculum over the six terms, we ensure that our children are offered experiences across all the areas of learning through a balance of child-initiated and adult directed activities, with a strong emphasis on learning in the natural environment outside.

Skills are developed through painting and collage, imaginary and role play, exploration of malleable materials such as dough and clay, sand and water play, music, story and rhyme, cooking, gardening and exploration of the natural world, and physical development activities. Each child at Harpsden Pre-School will have a key person - a named member of staff responsible for a small group of children.
We run dedicated Forest School sessions on Mondays but also incorporate aspects of forest school during our normal sessions so that all the children may benefit. The ethos behind Forest School is about creating a stimulating, creative, challenging and risk benefit environment where children can connect with nature.
Our standard morning session is 9.15am - 12pm. All children have the option of staying for lunch until 1pm from Tuesday - Thursday. Children bring a packed lunch and drink from home and we ask parents to support the pre-school's healthy eating and nut-free policies when making their child's packed lunch.

Both of my daughters have attended Harpsden pre-school and loved everything about it. I Highly Recommend this setting. The care, encouragement and support shown by the staff is incredible. My daughters are quite different but with the opportunity to learn and play inside and out and with the added bonus of forest school it really does cater for all. The outdoor facilities are amazing! It is intimate and nurturing but with a real focus on being curious about the world. It's a very special place - there isn't another nursery like it!
