A stunning Victorian building dating back to 1875, the Purbeck House Hotel, Swanage was originally built as a private home, became a convent school for sixty years and afterwards was converted into a welcoming hotel, full of history, character and original charm. Here you will find comfortable rooms, a light and airy garden conservatory where breakfast is served and Bar 1875 to relax in at the end of the day.
Across the garden is the Louisa Lodge annex, a newer build of local Purbeck Stone. The Lodge is purely for accommodation, offering a variety of different room types. Guests staying here can enjoy more modern surroundings whilst still having full access to the Main House. A good day deserves a great breakfast open from 7:30am to 10:00 am Monday to Saturday 8:00am to 10:00am on Sundays (Open to Non Resident). A full English breakfast is served in the Elizabeth Garden Conservatory to give residents a chance to view the gardens while they enjoy a relaxing breakfast.
Our Full English breakfast buffet includes free range eggs (fried or scrambled), hash browns, grilled tomatoes, mushrooms, baked beans, bacon, sausage, and black pudding.Dorset kippers are also available on request. All of our menu items are locally sourced. Vegetarian breakfast - Vegetarian sausage, sauted mushrooms, baked beans, grilled tomato and local free range eggs.

What a stunning place to stay, friendly and helpful staff, excellent breakfast all cooked perfectly and served with a smile. The hotel is a very interesting, historic building and the grounds are very well kept. Our view over the bay was panoramic. Ample car parking to the rear of the hotel which is central to Swanage. Our thanks to the staff for a wonderful mini break.

Perfect location, like staying in a country house with the town and beach on your doorstep.
Located in the centre of Swanage close to numerous pubs and restaurants. An ideal centre for exploring the South West Coast Path. The hotel was everything that was described and felt just like a large family home. The grounds are a true delight with many specimen plants and places to sit. Car parking is free and plentiful which is a real bonus in a town like Swanage.
Enjoyed the whole experience and have now stayed twice.

Great room, easy parking, great breakfast. Great wifi. Quirky layout, a few upstairs downstairs to negotiate depending where your room is. No lift so you need to use the stairs which was not an issue to us. Simple 2 minute walk into Swanage center. Friendly staff. Just made the week even more relaxed. Would use again.
