Services
Established in 1983 and located in the seaside town of Weston-super-Mare near Bristol, Western Counselling is a residential treatment centre providing detoxification and rehabilitation for those suffering from drug and/or alcohol use, gambling, food disorders and co-dependency with additional free aftercare for ex-clients in recovery.
The staff team at Western Counselling are committed to helping others achieve recovery, no matter where they work. From the admissions team, through the counselling team to the volunteer recovery champions - you will find people with a wealth of experience able to support you in finding and sustaining recovery from addiction.
An estimated 2 million individuals in the UK are struggling with some type of addiction. While many health officials believe this number will continue to increase, it does not have to. Whether you or someone you know is struggling with alcohol, drugs, prescription drugs, gambling, or a sex addiction, detox and rehab is available.
While many people can enjoy an alcoholic drink from time to time without any consequences, frequent alcohol use can result in dependency. Without alcohol rehab treatment, dependency can result in severe long-term complications. In some cases, dependency can even be fatal. When you require alcohol to get through daily life, the impact can be devastating.
Drug addiction can quickly send you down a dark and destructive path. Before long, you'll crave that feeling of euphoria continuously, resulting in a psychological dependence. You may even feel miserable and sick when you have to go without your drug of choice for any period of time, which is a strong indication that you have a physical dependence.

Western counselling is a great place if u want to get clean and sober it’s hard but fair.if you really want recovery and a better life there is no better treatment centre as far as I’m concerned the place saved my life.the 12 step program educated me and made me aware of why I used drugs for most of my life.my life is so good positive today and that’s down to working a 12 step program.group therapy,1to 1s and having structure and doing meetings have shown me the way forward to a better life. All the staff are selfless and caring and really know there stuff very professional. I’m so grateful

I had a Life changing experience here at Western. They offered support, safety, compassion, understanding and gave me tools and skills I need to be myself. The staff are all spot on and know exactly what they are doing. I feel privileged to have been able to do my treatment here. A time in my life that I will never forget

Before going in to treatment at Weston counselling my life was an absolute wreck. My addiction nearly killed me mentally and physically. If it was not for my key workers who got me in to rehab in the first place and for Weston counselling themselves. I would be dead. My addiction was so aggressive that the light within me nearly went dark. I was so emotional broken and separated from my family and children. That the help I received from the team at Weston help me to gain my life back. Before going in to treatment at Weston counselling I had so many dysfunctional habits and behaviours

This place has its ups and downs, like everything in life. I tried to focus on the positives but the negatives outweighed them. There were a couple of great, experienced counsellors, who I now know have left. Some younger ones meant well but came from a college background. While I'm an advocate of education, I'm not sure that people learning from books and lectures can truly understand the multifaceted nature of addiction. In all honesty, this place left me feeling worse. It's just my opinion, however. So decide for yourself.

This place is amazing. It’s very hard to put into words what western Counselling Services has and continues to do for two of my sons.
My youngest son had a funded place at a young age and then when my middle son realised his addiction we knew exactly where to get support and paid privately for his treatment. They have both been treated with dignity and kindness. It was very hard to be away from them but when they told me it’s like their 2nd home it became much easier. The only negative thing I can say is I miss the visits this time around but that is nothing to do with WC but more about COVID

When I walked into this wonderful treatment centre I was so broken mentally and physically I don't even remember my first couple of days. Spending 3 months here gave me the tools to begin a new clean and sober life. I was cared for by amazing staff. I left understanding more about who I am and what I needed to do to stay Clean & Sober. I remain forever grateful to Weston for getting me on my road to recovery. I am 28yrs clean!!!
