Are you thinking about getting some support for some problems you may be having? You might be nervous about picking up the phone to make that first step. You may be thinking that what you have to talk about is too big or even too small! Or that you don't really know what is wrong but you know you don't feel "right".

You may be struggling with a relationship or with stress, trauma, anxiety or depression or other issues. You may feel you are weak because you are thinking about getting counselling. I am here to answer any queries you may have and, if you choose, to set up an initial meeting so we can talk things through and establish your needs.

My belief is that counselling can help people make sense of their lives, especially when they are struggling, and lets face it, everybody struggles at times! I have been a counsellor for over 15 years seeing many, many people for a wide variety of problems. I have worked with individuals, couples, people who need short term work (6 sessions) and people who I have supported for much longer.
What sort of people seek counselling? All sorts of people come for counselling because there are all sorts of people! Whatever your background, age, gender or life experiences, I can help you make sense of things and help you find a new perspective. This list isn't conclusive and sometimes we don't even know what is wrong and that's ok too as I am here to explore that with you.
Confidentiality is very important so anything you say is in confidence but obviously if you are at risk of harm to self or others, it may be necessary to talk to a third party. This is very rare. I ask for you to work with me for at least 6 sessions. Short term therapy lasts, typically, between 6 to 12 sessions.
I am a fully qualified supervisor working with supervisees from a wide range of settings and client groups. I have supervised people in the helping professions for many years- mentoring counselling students and help line trainees in their work with clients and callers.

The work we are in is often stressful and I believe that a good supervisory relationship is crucial in the work that we do, not only for our clients but as part of looking after ourselves too.Current BACP guidelines are that trainee counsellors need to have supervision fortnightly. To encourage this practice I can offer sessions at 40 per hour.
