Dunno exactly how many bison farms there are in the UK, maybe 5 or so. So surprised to find that one is in Durham, and on our doorstep more or less. Absolutely delicious meat, making some very impressive meals. Healthy too.

If you are after something different to eat why not try buffalo, it's a lot less fatty and your body digest's it far better than beef. The owners of the farm are very helpful and will give you good advice on how best to cook it to.
It's also s good place to take your children because you can feed the animals on the farm. Well worth a visit.

Bit dissapointed really. Didn't know what to expect, but imagined more from the farm shop....and access to be able to see some fantastic animals. Got the impression if you're not prepared to buy some meat, then you have to go. I personally had a phone call to take before driving away, and was approached again, and told you can either buy some meat or pay £2 to sit on our land! We weren't just sitting there hanging around for no reason....rude! Won't recommending nor returning.

The farm is a beautiful place to visit. The selection of bison cuts was excellent, and already frozen. Daphne, the proprietor, was very helpful with advice on how to use the various cuts. I will be a regular customer, and will recommend the farm to others.

There is only Bison Breeding Stock and Deer at The Main Farm and of course The Farm Shop. I bought myself some Bison Mince and Sausages, Bison is expensive but more healthy for you and it's worth a try just to find out.
