Cross Lanes Organic Farm Shop
We have been coming to Cross Lanes since lockdown for our weekly shopping order. We will continue to get our groceries from Cross Lanes as we would have been lost without their support during difficult times. Lovely farm shop here which is definitely worth stopping at to pick up some fresh food or gifts for relatives back home.

What a find, selling an amazing array of organic produce. Need to fill up your Ecover washing liquid (no problem), need some bee pollen (absolutely), what about organic wine (not even a challenge). A great place. Judges note: "Cross Lanes can talk you through the whole story from pointing to the animals in the field, to the produce on the shelf which ensures this business is a family favourite."
Services
Derek is our fantastic butcher who our customers know well. He keeps our farm shop counter stocked with an eye catching display of organic meat, everything can be cut to order in front of you. Our butchers supply our kitchen with all the organic meat required for the restaurant and our increasing popular range of frozen ready meals sold in our farm shop.
Our organic restaurant serves delicious homemade dishes using organic, fresh, wild, local, seasonal & some quite unique home-grown ingredients. Food is served throughout the day providing everything from a snack to a hearty homemade meal. A great venue for catching up with friends & family or for people travelling looking for a pit stop.
The main aim of our farm shop is to support other local producers as well as selling our own homemade Cross Lanes products. We offer an impressive selection of local, organic, healthy, environmentally friendly food, drink and household/personal care products. We offer a choice for everyone, also now selling some known favourite branded items.
Our Outside Servery is currently closed, we are serving food from our inside restaurant again. The roof incorporates reclaimed telegraph poles supported by genuine Victorian cast iron railway columns from an old railway station. A trellis has been erected to shield the area from the A66. Old stable gates from Wycliffe Hall have been utilised into the walls as part of the security measures.

Waited a while for a take - out sandwich which I initially thought was a bit pricey, but when it came it was really a complete freshly prepared meal in a box. Excellent quality.

Nice food only downfall was we weren’t finished our food and they were cleaning the floors with bleach. It put us off as it smelled like a swimming pool.

Beautiful restaurant that is accomodating for vegans and vegetarians however the options are a little sparse. For meat eaters there is an abundance of option.
Coffee is incredible and the overall experience is outstanding.
Can't wait to go back next weekend.

Nice place to stop for late lunch.
Staff are very friendly. Nothing was an issue despite our 1 year old being a menace.
Bank holiday day after boxing day and it was busy but there was extra seating upstairs. Staff were helpful and brought up toddlers chair.
Food and coffee was served swiftly, despite 30-40 customers downstairs.
Steak Burgers were amazing, even the side salad & dressing was, suprisingly tasty.
Offers takeaway options including cakes and coffees if your passing. A small farm shop inside as well.
Passing on the A66 to Durham or to Penrith This place is worth a pit stop.

Well priced produce. Soil association and organic. Amazing range of UK wide cheeses that I've never seen before. Lovely staff too. I regret not eating the Sunday roast.

I have stopped here a few times travelling along the A66, and have had great service every time. The coffee is really good - nice and strong. I often have the falafel salad which is delicious.
There can be a bit of a wait at lunchtimes to order but it’s not too bad.

Excellent lamb kofte from the specials board, generous portion, excellent side salad of coleslaw and red cabbage, and pitta. Kids lunch was spot on for our 5 year old with veg kids like (carrots, cucumber, sweetcorn) a few crisps and large sandwich. Cakes also excellent. Atmosphere welcoming and staff friendly. Also great looking kids play area outside which we didn’t explore this time but will definitely return whenever we pass by. Top notch.

I wouldn’t normally complain but I’m left so mad I haven’t got a choice 😂🤯
We’ve gone for Sunday dinner at cross lane farm on the A66 expecting a nice organic stunning lunch - as advertised… and what we got a was a shambles.
-tomato based gravy (ketchup) -lumpy flavourless mash -dry parsnips -nothing else worth a mention.
When I said I didn’t… like it I was told I couldn’t have anything else 😂
The waitre with a decent ounce of customer service in him offered me something else so I asked for soup..
.. guess what..
.. the creamy

That is Ethan in the pic. It was his first day out away from the loving embrace of his wife. As you can see, he can bearly contain his excitement. Excellent food, great service. Loved every moment

I left happy with my experience at Cross Lanes Organic Farm. The service was a little mixed 50/50 with some staff giving more friendly and positive service than others. Unfortunately there was a mistake with our order, but this was recognised by the staff quite quickly and they did their best to put it right without hesitating. They adapt well to dietary needs with a very good Gluten Free Pizza base that seems handmade. The prices were reasonable. Do note that ordering and payment is at the counter.

Best piece of Pork ever said my granddaughter. Three cheeses were also excellent in making it the best feast ever. Comments heard from the whole family. Thanks also to helpful staff serving us at the farm.

Visited today with my son, and ordered 2 breakfast sandwiches and a bowl of seasoned fries. The bread rolls were dry and bordering on stale, the sausages were bland and also dry, seasoned fries translated to undercooked fries with half a tub of paprika thrown over them, and the service was appalling. Tip girls.... even if you're wearing a mask, people can tell that you've got a cob on under it.
Wouldn't recommend, and won't be back 👍

A wee nice farm shop sells organic meat and some other stuff. Had lunch there and ordered a sandwich and a burger which were delicious and not too heavy. The chips were nice and crunchy.
