The Montfort Cottage guest house is personally run by its owners, Jane and Paul, and is the perfect accommodation base from which to explore the stunning scenery and natural beauty of the Lake District. Montfort Cottage is a lovely, compact and bijou guest house. A late 19th century Lakeland stone terrace cottage, it has been sympathetically converted to provide Visit England 4 star accredited accommodation.
It is ideal as a romantic getaway for couples looking for a comfortable, peaceful and value for money bed & breakfast accommodation in Windermere, in the heart of the English Lake District. Sorry but we do not accommodate children under the age of 18 years.

Lovely stay at comfortable B&B with friendly and helpful hosts Jane and Paul. Excellent location between Bowness and Windermere with free on road parking, something that can be a problem nearer to Bowness. When you select a venue from the internet sometimes you win and sometimes you lose. This was definitely a win win.
Windermere Steamboats & Museum is located on a former sand wharf site where, for many years, barges unloaded gravel dredged from the bed of the lake. When this operation ceased in 1975, the Windermere Nautical Trust acquired the use of the site and the Museum was built in 1976-77 with the help of The Maritime Trust and the English Tourist Board.

Paul and Jane were so lovely and helpful. They gave us ideas on where to go and what to do.
They were so helpful on keeping me safe due to suffering with allergies and made sure that I was catered for without missing out.
The room was lovey and clean with a lovely view out onto the hills (stayed in Kentmere where room and bathroom are separate but no bother to us).
Bowness only a 12 minute walk to restaurants or Windermere is about 10 so not far at all.
Will definitely be returning.
