When we opened back up in April, staying away from home was restricted to just one family and support bubble, which was relaxed in May to 2 families and support bubbles or Rule of 6. If you have a booking in one of our larger properties and you are concerned that you can not comply with the current restrictions, please contact our office as quickly as possible.
In the meantime, we have taken great care to ensure your safety in our properties, and we thank you for your cooperation and support with this. Please do not arrive and try to check in until the confirmed check in time - for your safety and the safety of our staff we can not work around guests. The Lake District remains a sensitive area, and local residents continue to be very concerned about their own welfare.

Services
You'll find our team hard at work in a traditional, converted stone carriage building in sleepy Elterwater, at the gateway of the stunning Great Langdale Valley. From here, we help people find all sorts of charming local hideaways, from converted barns to rambling stone-built parsonages. So whatever sort of Lake District break you're looking for, give us a shout and we'll use our in-depth local expertise to find you a place you'll love.
There's no place quite like it and UNESCO agree, with so many incredible Towns, Villages, Hamlets, Valleys and Lakes to explore the hard part is choosing but the easy part is coming back. Our range of Ambleside Cottages offer exceptional quality, self-catering accommodation in the Lake District. Each of our cottages are unique in their charm and style, designed.
The Lake District inspired some of the most creative writers, thinkers and artists of the 20th century and we hope we can help you to find out why. If you're looking for that special, out of the ordinary place that you haven't been before why not get inspired by the collection rather than location and and try something new.
We are excited to reveal that internationally acclaimed Lake District based chef, Simon Rogan, working alongside his executive chef Tom Barnes, has developed a new dining concept so that Wheelwrights' guests can enjoy a little of what Cartmel has to offer during you stay with us. The new concept called Simon Rogan at home, is a delicious three course weekly changing seasonal menu available to Wheelwrights' guests on both Friday and Saturday.
We have been helping owners to let their properties in the Lakes for over 30 years - taking care of their bookings, looking after their guests and maintaining their properties. We would love to help you too and add you to our map. With many years' experience in the South Lakes property market, our success is built on trust.

We stayed at High Barn Ambleside last week, it was warm and clean on arrival at 5pm -seems excessive late now for arrivals and leaving by 9am was also ridiculous because no one went there till after 10 when we left the area. Small fridge, small kitchen bin and very small outside bin - no where sufficient for families up to 5 persons. Beds were all very small for this day and age. No logs, kindling or even paper to light the fire, no welcome anything - it had a parking space but extremely tight and quite awkward to get to - with other cars parked badly. think people using covid is now just an excuse

We stayed at Loweswater on the Neaum Crag estate. Lovely cosy cabin in a beautiful setting. Lots of walks right on the doorstep. There is a small pool on site and table tennis plus laundry facilities in the… pool building. The cabin has fridge, freezer, full size cooker and microwave. There is wi-fi and plently of puzzles and games. Top tip: Take lots of £1 coins for driving out sightseeing - everywhere has coin only parking machines and the charges are up to £8 a day.

Eltermere Old Barn
Eltermere is a bewitchingly lovely little village set in the very heart of the Lakes and Eltermere Old Barn is a stunning self catering property with 4 extremely good bedrooms upstairs and superb spacious modern kitchen and beautiful lounge downstairs. We spent a super week there this November as the property was being transferred from Lakelovers to the Wheelwrights portfolio, which probably explains why a number of things needed attention (we left a list of things to do in the visitors book).
The nearest shop is the well stocked Coop in Chapel Stile which is only a 15 minute

We rented Anniversary Cottage in Elterwater which was even better than our expectations - spacious, well appointed, clean & fabulous views. We were a party of 3 couples but the cottage would also be suitable for families. Location was excellent with the cosy local pub within stumbling distance serving lovely meals and the cafe round the corner serving scrumptious breakfasts. Fantastic range of walks on the doorstep and Grasmere & Ambleside are only a couple of hours walk away or alternatively a short taxi ride. We will return!

We stayed in Heather Cottage last week. The garden table was broken, no top, this was replaced quickly. The door of the internal freezer in the fridge fell off and was all iced up, the fridge wasn't clean, the windows were filthy internally and I had to clean the kitchen window. There was a broken knob on the hob and the knob to select oven, grill etc was broken, the bottom oven didn't seem to work. There was plaster missing from the walls, weeds in front of the front door, part of the panel on the bath was missing, a cupboard door handle in one of the bedrooms was falling off. The whole cottage

Stayed at Heather Cottage for a mid week break 11th July. 4 adults and our dogs.....we all loved it!! Fantastic little cottage in the most scenic location. Great walks from the doorstep. Cottage very cosy and everything we needed. Lovely garden where we sat with a glass of wine and admired the view after lots of walking. Would definately recommend. Mrs Lazenby
