Set in the delightful village of Great Chishill the Nursery has been established since 1976. We are a community based setting and many of the children come from the village itself. We also cater for the surrounding villages such as Barley, Barkway, Little Chishill, Chrishall, Heydon, Elmdon and Duddenhoe End and are easily accessible from Fowlmere, Melbourn and Royston.
When children start at the Nursery our aim is to help them feel safe, secure and happy so that they become confident to make the most of the opportunities we provide. We offer a stimulating environment where natural curiosity and interest is encouraged so that through play, the children can explore, learn and develop.

We operate a waiting list and would advise parents or carers who are interested in putting their child's name down to phone Anita Street on 01763-836968/ 07972 800460. The best time to catch Anita is in the evenings or weekends, but leave a message any time and she will get back to you. When your child is approaching two we will contact you to organise the sessions you would like them to attend.

We are open Monday, Tuesday, Wednrsday, Thursday and Friday during term time, for children from the age of 2 until they enter primary school. Children can also attend lunch club on nursery days (subject to numbers) thereby extending the session to 1pm for parents as well as providing a valuable social activity for the children.

Well done Anita and your staff for a most professional and friendly nursery. My grandson loves coming to school each day and whilst I have been looking after him for this last week you have been most helpful and thoughtful to me and his family. The school is also run with a good measure of security.

HIGHLY RECOMMEND Great.Chishill Nursery. My youngest son has only just left to attend school and it is thanks to Anita & her team for preparing him for the transition that he has settled in so well! Lovely village nursery with a home from home atmosphere & staff that go above & beyond for the children in their care.

All three of my children have attended Great Chishill nursery and I thoroughly recommend it as a stepping stone from home to school. The nursery has a warm and caring environment and the children are given time for free play but also as they advance towards school they are introduced to recognising, letters, numbers and writing skills. When my son joined the nursery he didn't speak and Anita recognised that he responded well to a member of staff and so arranged for them to have one to one time each session he attended the nursery which greatly improved both his speech and his confidence.

My daughter came here for almost three years and loved every minute. Anita and her staff are lovely, warm and caring. There was always something different to do so the children had so much fun and even did things such as writing and number lines so they were ready for school. I would totally recommend the nursery.

An absolutely gorgeous nursery, my three children all attended (one still does) and absolutely LOVED it. Massively respected by the village and the community, the owner / manager is professional, kind and adored by the children and parents alike. OFSTED agree - shown by their consistently good ratings. I was sad to see the negative reviews below - all written on the same day, same time, by people who have not attended the nursery nor live in the village. A quiet day for trolling no doubt. Ignore them - we all know the nursery is fabulous :)

Both my children attended Gt Chishill Nursery and it was a real home from home for them... such a warm, loving and nurturing environment. Anita and her team were always so kind, energetic and fun and genuinely cared for each child. In fact, Anita still babysits for my children now they are older as they both still love her! Thank you Anita for giving my children such a gentle and positive start on their journey in education.
