Bumpkins Pre School
Bumpkins is a loving, caring and welcoming nursery where our nurturing environment ensures each child is valued as an individual. Set on a working farm, we have an ethos where children can learn through play, have fun and explore the outdoors; fostering their talents and developing their personalities.

Our intention is for all our children to leave Bumpkins with a feeling of pride, self-belief, and confidence, and to have acquired the skills for lifelong learning. It is important that Bumpkins is a happy place to work, as well as a happy place to leave your children.
Services
Children thoroughly enjoy their time at the setting. They benefit from the opportunities to play indoors and outside. Children settle quickly into their day. They have good relationships with their key person and other practitioners and this promotes their emotional well-being.

Established in 2000 and based on a working arable farm, Bumpkins nursery is owned by Jacqui Stoneman and provides quality daycare for children aged three months to five years. In addition to caring, we want to make a difference - the Bumpkins Difference! We play with the children, encourage them in their learning, enabling them to become strong individuals who are happy and secure, whilst having fun with us.
At Bumpkins, we pride ourselves on creating nutritious, home-cooked food for the children. We provide three home-cooked meals every day; breakfast, lunch and tea, with a mid-afternoon snack and water available to the children at all times. Our meals are full of firm favourites with guidance from the Children's Food Trust, to ensure the menus we plan are not only nutritionally balanced, but taste lovely even with reduced sugar and salt.
Will your child be a Caterpillar, Ladybird, Bumblebee, Butterfly, Grasshopper or Dragonfly?. Our babies are Caterpillars and when they move to the crawling and walking side of the room they become Ladybirds. Your baby can come to us from three months old. We want your child to feel safe, stimulated and happy, and to secure and comfortable with staff.
Free play on the carpet. The children have time on the carpet where they explore toys and join in activities and messy play on the hard floor. We plan activities to enable the babies to explore safely and independently on the floor or in their high chairs. We tidy away and get together to read stories, sing songs or dance with bubbles and music!
The Nature Rangers at Bumpkins Day Nursery Royston offer our children the chance to try more adventurous activities. Under adult supervision they can take part in activities such as climbing trees and also natural art. Based on the Forest School ethos, we will run our own Nature Rangers sessions to support children's development and also understanding of the natural world.

My daughter has been at Bumpkins for just over a year and it has been an amazing experience for her, she absolutely loves her time there and it has made her confidence grow so much. When we were first viewing nurseries we were looking for a ''good feel'', a home from home feel and we definitely got that here. All of the staff make the nursery what it is, they all look so genuinly happy to be there and know my daughters personality so well. I love that the nursery take special occasions like nursery photos, halloween and Christmas as an importance and get everyone excited for them. It is so nice

An incredibly professional, warm & educational nursery. The staff are world class & treat each child as an individual. The various activities & experiences that our child has at Bumpkins have been key to his development and his happy & confident personality. We cannot recommend Bumpkins enough - an extension of our family!

Very professional, the staff genuinely care about the children and their well being, lots of fun activities and focus on development, very reliable and arranging when possible. Trust them entirely with my children. The nursery is in the countryside so the cchildren can go outside often and walk along farm tracks, see the chickens. Also the communication and health and safety measures during covid have been outstanding.

I cannot recommend Bumpkins Day Nursery enough. I have a son who attends and now my daughter will also be starting in the new year. My son always loves going and leaves excited after a fun day. The staff are always friendly, polite and helpful and very accommodating for each family's routine and needs. Even as high up as the managerial staff, throughout the 2020 COVID madness, they have gone above and beyond to help parents, key workers and keeping the children safe. We love Bumpkins.

My daughter joined Bumpkins nursery when she was 7 months and settled from day 1. 18 months later, she still enjoys going to nursery every morning. Her key workers take great care to monitor her progress daily and we have seen the positive impact nursery has had on her development. The staff and management team are very competent, friendly and reliable. I would highly recommend Bumpkins nursery.

We've had one child go all the way through Bumpkins, and another currently in the pre-school, and it's been a wonderful experience for both of them. The staff are warm and welcoming, and providing a kind and nurturing environment for the children, while encouraging their development across all age ranges. We couldn't be happier with our experience of the nursery and pre-school, and would highly recommend it.

We have two children at Bumpkins and couldn’t fault them. Extremely patient and kind staff, professional and great at keeping us updated via the app. It’s also a lovely countryside environment and provides nice home cooked food. They have also been great during lockdown and haven’t tried to charge us for days missed even though it must be costing them. Having compared notes with parents with children at other nurseries in the Cambridge area, we haven’t had any of the bad experiences or horror stories they have. They are not the cheapest nursery in this area but you do get what you pay for
