The Merrymoor
In 1961 my grandfather Sidney Evans purchased the Merrymoor Inn, for 3 Generation's of our family we have constantly provided, good beer, good food and accommodation by the beach we will continue to do just that! We look forward to welcoming you back to The Merrymoor when the current crisis is over and we are all safe again.
Services
Orginally a snack bar and restaurant with accommodation, The Merrymoor was first acquired by Sidney and Hilda Evans, grandparents of current landlord Nick Bennett. They moved to Cornwall in 1961, obtained a full licence for a public house in 1964, and added an extension to increase letting rooms. Regular customer and mechanical engineer Dudley Bennett married the Evans' daughter Lynne in 1969.
For three generations of our family we have been creating dishes from the land & sea of Cornish Shores. Our team of chefs led by a head chef John Fish pride themselves on using locally sourced fresh foods. Be it from the boats at Newlyn Harbour, cuts from our local butcher or fresh seasonal produce.
The Merrymoor offers seven en-suite rooms on a bed and breakfast basis, most benefiting from dramatic views of the beach and cliffs beyond. The rooms are tastefully furnished in a contemporary style and the accommodation benefits from full central heating so that you can enjoy Cornwall at its best, even during the cooler months.

Had a Sunday carvery here while on holiday in December.
Turnt out to a Christmas carvery with all the crimbo trimmings.
A very nice surprise, the food and service was top notch. And we couldn't of asked for anymore.
Great pub, great staff and great food. What else do you need.
Will visit this pub again, thank you Merrymoor Inn

Location, food, room and staff all 5 stars, absolutely gorgeous surroundings, highly recommended and we will definitely be coming back… if you’ll have us again, best English breakfast I’ve had, so tasty and cooked with love! The food in general is amazing.
The views are breathtaking, what a beautiful little gem.

Had 2 great meals but the Mussels were amazing (82 of them). Allowed us to park up for the night as well. Albeit we are on the off season.

Had a meal here with the children. They were very accommodating for my fussy son with requesting different vegetables with his food than the standard. All meals were lovely and large portions. I had the… muscles which were fresh that day. Served with fresh bread, delicious. Lovely location and a lovely venue. Will return if we are in the area again.

Despite staff shortage due to Covid, the staff were efficient and we enjoyed a cream tea with fresh scones and delicious hot chocolate made with lovely Cornish milk! It was so good, we returned later on in the week!

Popped in after a very wet and windy beach walk. The staff couldn't have been more accomodating and found us a lovely corner table where the dog couldn't cause too much damage with her wet paws. Food was delicious too.

DOG FRIENDLY-NOT SO MUCH
Visited 4 Oct for dinner. Food was average not much choice at all. We asked for some water for our dog.
The older waiter advised he “Couldn’t bring a dog bowl as he had sterilised his hands but we could take our dog outside for a drink” it was pouring with rain and we were in the middle of eating our dinner.
It concerns… me that he doesn’t plan to wash or sanitiSe hhis hands again throughout the night whilst serving all these different customers!
Then we were overcharged with something we never had. Maybe a mistake but check as the same waiter

Went for breakfast. All staff stood around chatting finally got our order taken by a young blond girl chewing gum with attitude. Latte was cold. I had vegetarian breakfast and the halloumi on the menu states fresh grilled it came out from the deep fat fryer. Mushrooms were swimming in oil. No apologies they changed my breakfast but waited over 30 mins which time all my family had eaten. Came there last year will family was lovely here but never again.

Great place, never judge a book by it's cover and this pub / restaurant proves the point, good choice on the menu and daily board. Helpful staff and good views of the beach.

Been past this place many times but I am rather glad we finally decided to pop in for a pint whilst waiting for the bus to take us back down the coast. According to the blurb in the menu this has been in the same ownership since 1973 and the pub has been very well looked after. Nice and clean, friendly, standard menu at sensible prices. Four real ales, Sharpes Doombar and Own, St Austell Tribute and Dartmoor. Worth a visit if you are walking the South West Coast Path.

Fantastic local inn!

They do great food, the view out to sea is fantastic, and the staff are ultra friendly as are the locals that drink here.

Fantastic for a lovely traditional pub lunch, and you can take a wander along the beach straight after even better!
