When it comes to warm Cumbrian hospitality, it's hard to beat the welcome you'll receive at the award winning March Bank Hotel. As a small family ran country hotel, we like our customers to think of March Bank as a home from home. It's this friendly, unpretentious approach that's made us such a success with locals and visitors alike over the past 20 years.
The property itself was built in 1850 as a shooting lodge for the Graham estate. Set on a hilltop in five acres of what was once known as the debatable lands, an area that both Scotland and England claimed as their own, the views of the surrounding lands are quite spectacular.

Services
Cumbria and the Scottish Borders are famed for their produce, and in The Sportsman's Restaurant at March Bank we try to use as many local ingredients as possible. We catch our salmon and trout in the nearby River Esk. We take the pick of the spoils from the local game shoots, and only choose the finest seasonable vegetables from the surrounding lands.
The land surrounding March Bank is steeped in history, myth and legend. So as a fitting tribute to our region's past, we've named our guest rooms after areas of local interest. Whichever room you choose to stay in, be it the Reivers, Borders, Scotts Dyke, Esk, Netherby, or Kirkandrews on Esk, you're sure of a comfortable, relaxing night.
With the world famous Gretna Green less than five miles from our hotel, March Bank makes the ideal choice for smaller wedding parties. Unlike many other hotels in the area, at March Bank you can enjoy exclusive use of our premises. After all, it's supposed to be your big day, and the last thing you want is to share it with a group of strangers, or worse still, another wedding party.
