We had to stay at Cumbria on 3 occasions on our way to Scotland and back in August and September. We chose this Hotel as the service we received was excellent especially from Dave Green, the hotel was clean, the bedding was very fresh, not to mention the dinner and breakfast which were both of high quality. The cost of our stay was very competitive compared to those in Carlisle. We would certainly recommend this hotel without hesitation.

This lovely traditional hotel has a real luxury feel, with beautiful public areas, very clean generous sized rooms and a brilliant location which is a short picturesque walk from Carlisle's historic town city centre. We were very impressed. Would have said 5 stars if we hadn't been disturbed by noisy people in the adjacent room as the dividing wall had no soundproofing.

I stayed for two nights this week, and the hotel seemed busy with conferences and I think the staff may have been a little overstretched (particularly the kitchen) but overall our stay was good. All staff were lovely but busy!
There was a bit of a blip with hot water and breakfast, but the manager was very good at sorting it out, and I think that this was actually a plus point in the
