Louis is passionate about the bar. Here you'll find a wide selection of wines, ciders, cask conditioned ales, many of which are from local brewers all kept in tip-top condition. We always have Wye Valley Butty Bach on tap and have at least one guest ale available which changes every week or so. You can enjoy a relaxed lunchtime or evening meal in the newly refurbished bar area or dine al fresco on the spacious riverbank if the weather allows!
Enjoy local and seasonal dishes freshly made to order by our kitchen team. We strongly believe in providing high-quality dishes which change with the seasons so you'll always want to keep coming back for more. Our ethos is to offer top-quality meals at an affordable price.
All of our lamb, beef and pork is reared on farms in Maisemore, Hartpury, Tirley and Ashleworth and we source the best seasonal fruits and vegetables from the Gloucestershire countryside.Of course you'll find classic pub dishes here too - we just do them really well.

Featuring boating and riverside memorabilia and reclaimed furniture, our restaurant and snug are warm and welcoming environments in which to enjoy a meal. Artwork on the walls feature the local countryside around the pub as well as Gloucester Docks to be found further downstream. Our intimate dining room with wood burning stove can accommodate up to 18 people and our snug overlooking the river is a great room in which to watch the world go by.

From the moment we walked in the staff were amazing. Welcomed in by the manager Andy we felt like locals, having never visited the pub before!
We arrived for a few drinks at 3pm And stumbled out at 8.30. The food, atmosphere and staff were second to none.
Special mention goes to Andy and Hannah who served us all evening, they were always busy but found the time to have a chat with us, what a lovely team.
Thanks for making our weekend away memorable by making us feel welcome at The Red Lion

Gorgeous pub and a great way to spend a couple of hours by the side of the river. Food good and really quick to arrive at the table. They probably miss and opportunity by not doing outside table service for the entire afternoon but it's during Covid and with the English weather you can't guarantee outdoor table service I even required!
