Hi, my name is Tim Barnard and I am thrilled to be the Head of School at Cusgarne School, a small rural community school with a BIG personality and spirit. Cusgarne School is a thriving and happy school that has a reputation for being friendly and supportive. I am proud to be part of such a great team of children, families and staff.
We pride ourselves on our motto - 'make the most of every moment' and we do our best to make sure that every child does! There is a wealth of information on the website but if you would like a closer look please call us on 01872 863563 to book an appointment, we would be delighted to show you around.

Services
Our school serves a small rural village, many outlying districts, hamlets and farmsteads. The original school was founded by the Gwennap School Board in 1877, and the original granite building forms the main school you see today. The school now benefits from a large hall, 3 dedicated classrooms and a fabulous library with IT suite.
At Cusgarne School we teach history according to the National Curriculum expectations for history at EYFS, KS1 and KS2. Children talk about past and present events in their own lives and in the lives of family members. They know about similarities and differences between themselves and others, and among families, communities and traditions.
The Trust currently comprises 28 Cornish primary academies. We have joined together in a unique and exciting partnership that will ensure better provision, richer resources, and higher standards for our pupils. The Trust is focused on continuous school improvement and removing any obstacles that distract from this goal.
Cusgarne School is a happy and safe place where children are at the heart of all we do. We 'make the most of every moment' and aim to provide the highest standards of education in an inclusive environment, through effective teaching and learning. We believe in the education of the 'whole' child and the promotion of the children's spiritual, moral, social and cultural development is at the heart of our curriculum.
At Cusgarne we believe that a quality English curriculum should develop children's love of reading, writing and spoken language. We aim to inspire an appreciation of our rich and varied literary heritage and a habit of reading widely and often. We recognise the importance of nurturing a culture where children take pride in their writing, can write clearly and accurately and adapt their language and style for a range of contexts.
