As a Church School, we have established a clear vision and a set of values which are embedded into our school culture and demonstrate our Christian Distinctiveness. Simply put, we want all our children to Learn, Achieve and Flourish. We provide high quality teaching and learning and subsequently have very high standards of achievement.
In addition, we provide countless opportunities for all our children, both inside and outside of the classroom, to enable them to flourish. I am very proud to lead this school, alongside a very strong staff team who will always go the extra mile to ensure all our children succeed. We have a wonderful School Association who work tirelessly to support us by raising funds and providing great opportunities for our children.

Put quite simply, the drivers for our curriculum are The Compton Way and our Christian School Values. For further details of specific subject areas I would encourage you to look at our SUBJECT CORE OFFERS. We enrich our children's learning through a range of educational visits and residential experiences.
The infant department have been considering how children learn to read and how they develop their phonic knowledge. After extensive research, including visits to a number of schools we have decided to change and adapt some of our practice. We now teach phonics through a READ WRITE INC programme. Our children become familiar with phonemes and graphemes, rhymes and letter formation.
Compton School Council is a group of children who have been elected by their peers to represent the views of the children in the school. They are given opportunities to propose and take forward ideas and projects on behalf of the other children. In the past, the School Council have interviewed potential new teachers including our current Head Teacher, Mr Oakshott!
We support Medic Malawi, a charity set up by Mac and Dot Forsyth from our local area in Plymouth. Medic Malawi supports an orphanage and hospital for children. We raise money to help the children regularly and in the summer of 2014 raised enough to by every child a mosquito net - an act that will save lives.
We can support your child to achieve the very best they can at Compton C of E Primary School. We value the input that parents make to their child's education and aim to work together to provide the best possible support for your child. From time to time, children may need extra support with their learning and this document will inform you of the types of support available for your child.
