St Andrew's Church Of England Primary School
St Andrew's C.E. (Aided) Primary School is situated in the centre of the picturesque village of Buckland Monachorum, on the edge of Dartmoor National Park. The building dates from the 1970's with extra classrooms and facilities constructed as the school roll has increased and to provide a modern and attractive learning environment for all pupils.

The school grounds are extensive and provide a rich outdoor classroom with two playgrounds, a large field, environmental areas, school gardens, an amphitheatre and outdoor heated swimming pool. The village Community Orchard nearby is also widely used. The school caters for children aged from 4 to 11 years and is organised into 7 year groups.
Services
We are a thriving one-form entry primary school located in the heart of Buckland Monachorum, on the edge of Dartmoor. We have strong links with St Andrew's Church within the village. Our inclusive ethos is founded upon Christian values. Every child is expected to be challenged, to develop their personal strengths and aspirations, and to contribute to the life of the school.
Our aim is to provide a living, Christian school environment, where the full potential of each child is realised through personal, social, academic and spiritual development. We are a Church of England School that is required to be distinctly Christian and inclusive. This means that we welcome those who have a Christian faith, those who have no faith and those of other faiths.
We are proud of both our Key Stage One and Two SATS results, which indicate the school achieves consistently well above national averages and that children make very good and often accelerated progress. The progression and learning of every individual child is enhanced by the use of assessment, record keeping and reporting.
Following the recent Ofsted inspection, we are pleased to tell you that our school has been awarded 'Outstanding for Early Years Provision' with an overall school rating of 'Good.'. The Ofsted Inspection was conducted by HMI Iain Freeland and Simon Green, across two days.

They talked to a wide sample of children and parents at the school and carried out a thorough analysis of the Quality of Teaching and Learning; Effectiveness of Leadership and Management; Quality of Teaching, Learning and Assessment; Personal Development, Behaviour and Welfare; Outcomes for Pupils; and Early Years Provision.
Andy Farmer is the relatively newly appointed chair of governors. My experience as a governor has mainly been 7 years in secondary education although I was a governor at St Andrew's, many years ago, when my children attended the school. My day job is as a Programme Director for a business support organisation.

Pleasant enough place to go to school 30 years ago, students were rarely allowed to play on the grass though, can't remember why...
