Opened in 1992 and still owned and managed by the original founder, The Rocking Horse Nursery offers a real home from home environment in a residential area one mile from the town centre of Stamford in Lincolnshire.

We are justly proud of our dedicated and caring team at The Rocking Horse Nursery. Comprising of a mix of ages and personalities, and some being parents and grandparents themselves, they have a real understanding of what you, as a parent, want and expect from a daycare nursery.

Over the years we have provided the highest levels of childcare to hundreds of children and, because the nursery has been established for so long, we regularly welcome children to the nursery whose parents attended the nursery themselves in their pre-school years!Operating from our 'real home' premises, we continually reinvest in the facilities, educational and play equipment, and - most importantly - our staff.

Forest School allows children to develop confidence and self-esteem through hands on experiences in a natural woodland environment. They have the freedom to direct their own learning and enter into a certain amount of 'risky-play'. This in turn increases their sense of engagement and motivation.
The rich variety of activities on offer and the sense of independence can have very positive effects on a child's intellectual, cognitive, physical and emotional development.The children benefit from close interaction in observing changing seasons and playing in natural and wild environments which stimulates their senses and forges connections with nature.

Situated in the nursery's fully enclosed garden, our Literacy Hut is a further enhancement of The Rocking Horse Nursery's outdoor learning facilities and supports the 7 areas of learning of the Early years foundation stage (Eyfs). This relatively recent addition offers a stimulating and dedicated 'class room' away from the main building.

My daughter has just finished her time at The Rocking Horse Nursery, and after just over 3 years with the wonderful team, she is finally ready for big school!
You genuinely couldn’t wish for better people to be taking care of your child whilst they’re at nursery.
Aurora has loved every day there from the toddler room all the way up to the pre-school room, she’s made so many friends and learned so much and her sass has increased tenfold (in a good way!)

My little girl has just left The Rocking Horse ready to start big school and I could not have asked for a better nursery for her to go to for these last couple of years. We looked around several nurseries in Stamford but this is the one my daughter seemed the most comfortable in (she actually ran off to play with toys and forgot mummy and daddy… were even there which she didn’t do at the other nurseries). She started off so shy and wouldn’t play with many children but the ladies there encouraged her to play with others and buddied her up with other children and that helped her

When we looked round nursery's towards the end of last year, I walked in to 2 others before RHN and wasn't comfortable with them. walking up to the door of RHN felt so welcoming with it looking like a home and when we went in I just instantly felt in my gut that it was the right nursery for us. Even viewing it empty in lockdown restrictions. Having… an 11month starting nursery who had spent the last year barely even seeing family was tough. Our Daughter started at the Nursery a few weeks ago. It was one of the hardest things I've done, too leave our little girl but the staff was so supportive, caring and understanding, which made the experience a little easier and I can not thank them all enough! Our daughter is so happy when we arrive at the Nursery and full of smiles when we pick her up. We looked at a lot of Nursery's but we knew this was the right one for us as soon as we looked round. Absolutely amazing and highly recommended.

Our little girl has been at The Rocking Horse since she was a baby and has matured into a bright, caring and increasingly confident young lady. We are always welcomed with the biggest smiles and sometimes I barely get a wave goodbye she is so excited to get in the door! The owner is very engaged with the running of her nursery, is always on hand to speak to and knows each child and family personally which is something that is quite unique to this setting. We are delighted we chose The Rocking Horse and would highly recommend!

My daughter only recently started at the Rocking Horse but we knew instantly, from our first viewing, that it was exactly what we wanted. My daughter is very funny around people, even immediate family but as soon as we walked in she was smiling and very chatty and made herself at home, she actually didn’t want to leave. On her first day she went… straight in without a care in the world and this has continued every week. The Rocking Horse is such a warm, friendly environment and I can’t speak highly enough about the staff I have encountered so far and the communication is fantastic

The nursery is not as big as some of the other nurserys in Stamford which we prefere for our child as it gives it a very warm, nurturing and homely feel. I have found the staff and management team very accommodating and professional and the communication has been the best out of the nurseries we have had contact with over the years. we have experienced consistent room staff which really does help a child to form secure attachments and feel settled. They are flexible with hours and operate on a pay by the hour basis which is great.
