First Steps Day Nursery
Situated in the quiet rural village of Maxey, just a short drive from Peterborough, First Steps Day Nursery is perfect for little ones who live in the city and its surrounding areas, including Market Deeping, Stamford and Bourne. We ensure that your child receives the highest level of childcare by providing staff that are fully qualified staff and trained to a high standard.

Our friendly team is dedicated to giving your child the best possible start in life by creating a safe, happy and nurturing environment that encourages growth and development. We also like to provide a hassle-free service for parents. We understand that introducing your little one into nursery can create anxiety for the parent and child - that's why we do our best to reassure and help your little one settle in.
Services
My Name is Janet. I am the Manager here at First Steps and have worked here for 16 years. As a team we provide a high-quality level of childcare, where each child is valued and encouraged to obtain their full potential. We provide a safe, happy and secure environment for your children. I love my job, especially building relationships with the children and their families.
We pride ourselves in offering children a diverse selection of foods that are all prepared freshly on site by our nursery cook, who was awarded a 5-star hygiene rating by the Food Standards Agency. We have designed 2 menu cycles to reflect seasonal changes and fresh produce available.

Both the spring/summer and autumn/winter menus have 2 weeks of wholesome, nutritious and balanced diets, ensuring our children have the nutrition they need to be active learners. We constantly review these menu's by asking parents for family favourite meals or observing/asking children their opinions.
At the age of two children who meet the eligibility criteria can claim for 15 hours of funded childcare. Three and four-year-old children are entitled to claim a maximum of 30 hours of funded childcare, 15 universal hours and 15 additional hours (subject to eligibility) referred to as EYEE 'Early Years Education Entitlement'.
We know that your children are the most precious things in your life. A core part of our ethos is to create a home from home, as such your child is also precious to us. The security of the nursery is paramount, which is why we have strict policies in place to safeguard your children while in our care.
Transitioning your child from home to nursery can be a very stressful time for you and them. It is vital that we do everything we can to lower these anxieties and make the transition to nursery as smooth as possible. As such we are flexible in our approach to our settling in procedure, responding to individual family needs.
