Carrickmannon Primary School has been standing on the current site for over 175 years, the land having been provided by Lord Dufferin in 1825. From its beginnings as a one room National School, the building has been extended and refurbished several times resulting in the excellent accommodation provided for the children of today.
We have a long tradition in our school of providing children with a wide, balanced and quality education in a happy, caring and nurturing environment. Carrickmannon Primary School is a CONTROLLED PRIMARY SCHOOL, situated 1.5 miles outside the village of Ballygowan. Our current enrolment (27/18) is 95 children.
Friends of Carrickmannon Primary School is run by the PTA and is a non-profit making organisation which aims to enhance closer links between parents and the School. Also, raising much needed funds for the School to support extra-curricular activities and purchase additional equipment and resources to enhance the children's education.
