Here we endeavour to establish a supportive relationship between home and school; a relationship which ensures a consistent and secure journey through primary school life. We acknowledge that parents, as a child's first educators, are keen for their children to do well. With this in mind, we make it our business to actively work with our parents so that each child is empowered to achieve to the very best of their ability.
Our 'open door' policy means that key members of staff will be available to talk to parents at any time. The school's ethos reflects the quality of relationships within the school community. Kilmaine is a happy, caring school where hard work and good behaviour are an expectation of all. We actively celebrate the diversity of the wider community and are committed to the principles of inclusion and equality of opportunity.

We often have parents asking teachers for recommendations for books for their child to read at home. We have found some brilliant reading ideas from the 'World Book Day' website to help you. Each of the books have been put into different age appropriate bands. Our school website, mobile app and podcasts are created using School Jotter, a Webanywhere product.
Kilmaine has a purpose built nursery situated in the grounds of the school. It has a bright recreation area, a playroom, a quiet room and a secure outdoor play area solely for the use of the nursery children. To provide a stable, secure and challenging environment so that each child will be enabled to move towards maximum all round development: emotional, social, physical and cognitive.
We are always busy bees in Year 1 having lots of fun. In the first few weeks of school we have thought a lot about our health and wellbeing. We know how important it is to exercise outside and to talk about our feelings. In our photos you might spot us making angry feelings as we've been discussing how we can help ourselves if we feel angry.
