As an integrated school I would like to give you an insight into what happens at Loughries. Visitors to our school often comment that Loughries feels different, perhaps because we have a strong sense of community and all the Staff and children know each other across all year groups. As an integrated school we provide a welcoming, supportive learning environment where all traditions, cultures and abilities are respected and nurtured together.
We respect the uniqueness of every child and have high expectations in all areas of their development: academically, physically, socially, emotionally and spiritually. We deliver a broad and balanced curriculum for all children and aim to help each child achieve to their full potential. The Governors, Staff and Parents/Carers work in partnership to ensure that pupils receive a high quality education.

Services
At Loughries Integrated Primary School we bring together children and staff from Catholic and Protestant traditions, as well as those of other faiths, or none. We provide a learning environment where the children are educated together which allows the opportunity to understand and respect all cultural and religious backgrounds.
Loughries Integrated Primary School enjoys a pleasant rural setting just 3 miles from Newtownards, close to the shores of Strangford Lough. Our present pupils come from a wide area encompassing Newtownards, Bangor and the Ards Peninsula. The parents appreciate the wrap around care which is available from 8:15am to 6pm Monday to Friday.
Mr Stewart is the class teacher and the assistants are Mrs Graham, Mr Seeds and Miss Adams. Please check our class area for updates about what is going on in our classroom. We explore lots of interesting topics throughout P5/6, including The Human Body, Ancient Egyptians, Natural Disasters, Eco-Warriors, World War 2, The Rainforests, Electricity and The Vikings.
The class teachers are Mrs Thompson who will teach Wednesday, Thursday and Friday and Mrs Gibson who will teach Monday and Tuesday. Our topics this year will be Famine Around the World and The Irish Famine, The Victorians, Europe, Space, The Titanic and Moving On. This year we will be very busy with preparation for our next school, completing Design and Technology Challenges, planning and organising a Charity Morning and Sumdog Competitions.
We are very fortunate at Loughries IPS to have a PTFA that is and has been such an integral part of the school community for many years. The PTFA has raised money which has been spent on improving equipment and resources to enhance our children's education and the facilities in School. We were able to provide the school with five new laptops for all the children to use.

My eldest started P1 in September and he is having so much fun with his new friends. The teachers, assistants, principal and parents all work together fantastically to give all the children such a wonderful educational experience. My little boy has came on leaps and bounds since starting P1. The school has a strong sense of community and has a supportive integrated education for everyone. A perfect small country community style school 😊

Absolutely love the whole ethos of this school, my little boys confidence, self esteem and general sense of himself has gone from strength to strength since moving him in February 2019. Every member of staff genuinely cares and has each and every child at the centre of what they deliver! Cannot speak highly enough of Loughries

Mightily impressed by the children and staff there when I delivered a talk for Diabetes UK about 3 months ago. They were responsive and highly stimulated in all areas. They were thoroughly engaged without being obstreperous; polite without being standoffish; warm and welcoming without being over-familiar. It is the only school I have encountered where a talk on type 1 and type 2 diabetes could be delivered to the entire school. It was possible to stretch the top end without losing the infants! Your staff are your most valuable resource. Keep valuing them!
