Catley Cross Veterinary Clinic, Equine & Small Animal Vets
The Practice, previously known as Taylor and Lees, extended from its original site in Sudbury town centre to its current location in 1990 under the guidance of Robert Lees. The practice has since expanded to include a small animal department. In 2014 a new building in the southern corner of the yard with a purpose built examination room complete with stocks and living accommodation above.

In 2016 isolation stables were erected, away from the clinic enabling infectious cases to be treated away from other patients. We have six 100% Equine Vets all with interests in different areas of horse care and we cover a large geographical area treating competition horses, retired ponies, racehorses to donkeys.
Services
Vaccinations are essential in protecting your animal from infectious disease and an initial course of vaccines and then annual boosters will protect them from these. Many of these diseases are fatal and are always present in the general animal population.

Vaccinate puppies from 8 weeks of age with the second booster at 12 weeks (a 4 week interval is necessary between the two injections) This injection covers diseases Distemper, Leptospirosis (4 strains), Parvovirus and Infectious Canine Hepatitis (associated canine adenovirus 2).Your dog can also be vaccinated against kennel cough.
We believe that nutrition is an important part of keeping pets healthy and can also play a vital part in the treatment of some illnesses. This is why we stock a select range of cat and dog pet food in practice, helping to take the faff out of pet food for our clients by recommending diets that have been scientifically created to provide optimal nutrition, which tastes great!
If your pet has an emergency during our normal opening hours, please call the practice and we will advise you what to do next. If you have an emergency when we are closed, please contact our partners Vets Now on 01206 842224 (Colchester) and 01376 388233 (Witham). Vets Now is the pet equivalent of an accident and emergency service, dedicated to providing pets with access to a vet out of hours.
We are a 24 hour emergency equine veterinary clinic and so one of our own vets is available to speak to when it is out of hours and reception is closed. The equine emergency number is 07767 884947 but if there is no answer or the emergency vet is busy, you will be redirected to a paging service. Please leave a message with the paging company and the emergency vet will call you back as soon as possible.
Pet insurance provides cover for veterinary fees in the event that your pet becomes injured or unwell. It can provide peace of mind that you're in a position to afford all the veterinary care your pet may need. With veterinary medicine employing expensive medical techniques and medication, and with pet owners caring more and more about their pets' health, pet insurance is becoming increasingly popular.

Really happy with the clinic. All the staff were friendly and the vet was great with our nervous dog. Glad I picked Catley Cross. Lovely rural setting too.

I have to say I am very impressed with the transparency of this Vet Clinic. I had to organise a vet exam on a horse from Australia which we pre-paid. Karen was very thorough in her examination and recommended we not proceed with the expensive part of the exam as the horse did not meet our requirements. They could have easily have done the complete exam, and it is greatly appreciated that it was stopped midway awaiting our approval. Thank you!

I cannot recommend these vets any higher, they go above and beyond when required. Their prices have gone up quite a lot since the changeover but still comparatively priced. Great location and ample parking too. Jane is our 1st choice of vet for her experience, expertise and manner.
