Services
As the Headteacher, I am incredibly proud of our extraordinary staff, the school's integral role in the local community and every child who calls Werneth their home. As a team, we are committed to making sure that your child makes excellent progress, no matter their starting point. Education is part of the foundation of their future success.
Thanks to our partnership with the Pinnacle Learning Trust, Werneth Primary School pupils will now get priority admissions to Hathershaw College. As one of our community's leading secondary schools, this ensures that all of our pupils will be guaranteed access to an incredible educational pathway if that is what you want for them.
The junior school opened in 1893 and the playground includes an all-weather pitch, which can be used for numerous activities. The surrounding grounds provide opportunities for children to plant and grow their own flowers and food - green fingered parents are always welcome to help! The staff played a key role in designing and furnishing the building and we feel it reflects our philosophy and supports our educational practice.
At Werneth Primary School, we understand that every child an individual and that we all learn in different ways. Through careful planning, differentiation and tailoring of the curriculum, we ensure that the needs of all pupils, including those with special educational needs and disabilities, are catered for within all areas of learning.
The Government provides schools and academies with a 'pupil premium' which is additional to main school funding. This funding is provided to raise the attainment of disadvantaged pupils and close the gap between them and their peers. At Werneth Primary School, pupil premium funding enables our most disadvantaged and vulnerable pupils an opportunity to flourish.

I went to school there from c. 1955/6 till we left for Australia in August 1959. I had the best memories on so many levels...the teachers were great, the other kids in my class/es seemed to get along with each other, and all in all, it was a happy school.
