A historic hotel in beautiful countryside on the edge of Dumfries. If you're visiting us for business or for leisure then you'll enjoy a relaxing, peaceful stay with tasty food and a very warm welcome. Woodland House Hotel is a privately owned, family-run hotel.

Our goal is to delight you with traditional hospitality and values, whether you're considering us for an overnight stay, a meeting or conference, a function or wedding or simply a relaxing meal out.All our guest bedrooms are located in a new wing and have been designed and furnished to an exceptionally high level to create a comfortable home-from-home experience.

The birthplace of the bicycle, beautiful scenery and quiet country roads conspire to make this part of Dumfries & Galloway one of the best places in the UK to enjoy road cycling. For many people exploring the countryside by bicycle is by far the best way to travel, fast enough to take in miles and miles of travelling, slow enough to enjoy the ride.
Being so close to the English border has left its mark on Dumfries & Galloway. This landscape has been fought over time and time again. From ancient standing stones to ruined castles, graceful abbeys to inspirational poets, there is much heritage to explore.

History is on our doorstep at the Woodland House Hotel in the form of the ancient Twelve Apostles stone circle - the largest stone circle in mainland Scotland - in the field next door to the hotel!Robert Burns, Scotland's National Bard, farmed close to the hotel, ploughing the soil at Ellisland Farm.
Dumfries & Galloway is famous among mountain bikers for being home to five of the internationally renowned 7Stanes mountain biking centres (and right next door to the other two). The region is a mountain biker's paradise and Woodland House Hotel is ideally located for you to enjoy it.

Mabie and Ae are on our doorstep, Dalbeattie just a short drive away and Kirroughtree and Glentrool are an enjoyable trip west through Galloway's beautiful landscape.Drumlanrig Castle, just a few miles north of us, also offers some superb mountain biking trails, and the forest at Drumlanrig is fast becoming known as one of the best biking spots in the UK.
South west Scotland contains some of Scotland's finest golf courses and here in Dumfries & Galloway we have a very good selection to choose from, ranging from Championship links to lush parkland courses set in stunning scenery. We can guide you to one of our favourite courses or simply give you information about the various standards and special offers available on nearby courses, and we're happy to book tee-off times on your behalf.
