Services
Mabie House was originally built in the 17th century and passed through several generations of local landed gentry, including the Keswick family. In the 1960's the Keswick family handed building over to the local Forestry Commission, who utilised it's forest location to provide hostel accommodation for workers within the forest and nearby sawmill.
Mabie House Hotel, a short drive from Dumfries in Southern Scotland has fourteen en-suite rooms available, including the Honeymoon Suite, each with its own unique style and character. A magnificent 17th century country mansion situated in its own grounds, guests at Mabie can enjoy beautiful views over the gardens and Solway estuary in the quiet and peaceful surroundings of Dumfries & Galloway.
We pride ourselves on sourcing and serving the very best local produce available in our restaurant, all prepared and cooked with care by our own experienced chefs Niki and Polly. Working closely with local meat, game, fruit and veg suppliers, our menu is seasonal, fresh and delicious. Whether a 3 course dinner or cup of tea and a scone after exploring the many forest trails, there really is something for everyone at Mabie House.
With its unique setting, Mabie House provides the perfect location to deliver the wedding of your dreams. Nestled in the heart of Mabie Forest, just a 3.5 mile drive from Dumfries along the stunning Solway Coast, sensational gardens and manicured lawns surround the idyllic 17th century country house.
New to Mabie House, our Pavilion has been constructed with care to create the most flexible and accommodating venue possible for your wedding. With solid wooden floors, a heating system for winter and air conditioning in summer and fully glazed frontage, the practicalities mean the Garden Pavilion is perfect for weddings all year round, whatever the weather brings.

We spent two nights at Mabie House and found the welcome most warm, almost like friends. The staff were all courteous and friendly, going out of their way to engage with guests. It was obvious that there were a large proportion of the guests and been there before which is always a good sign. The food was excellent and fresh. Highly recommended!

Iā€™m staying local in a farmhouse, I came here after a walk with my baby, dog and partner. We asked if we could eat outside and they brought everything out. The staff are lovely and friendly and the food was really good quality. I would come here again!

Absolutely beautiful place. We stopped for a quick lunch and a play in the playground. We had super tasty vegan fishcakes and chips. So good. A few of us went on one of the dog walks. Also the inside is super fancy and the staff are really friendly. Nice!

This is a great find. Everything you expect a real country house hotel to be. Fabulous quirky Edwardian interior, crowned by an equally quirky parrot by the name of Basil! Large, comfortable room, good food and, most importantly, excellent friendly staff. Very pet friendly. Looking forward to our next visit.

Stopped on a cycle on one of the hottest days of the year! Sat in the garden for drinks and a bowl of chips. Lovely setting. The inside restaurant area looks quite posh - might have to come back to try it when we're not scruffy cyclists!
