Acorns is located in the beautiful market town of Masham on the edge of the Dales. We are a small pre-school at the heart of our community proving exceptional care for children aged 2-5 years. Children and their imaginations inspire everything we do. We draw on their inherent fascination with the world to develop learning opportunities that will realise every child's unique potential.
A close relationship with the great outdoors is part of life as an Acorn. Our enviable location affords the chance to explore the spectacular landscape on our doorstep. We have two outdoor play areas and our 'Jungle' allows for learning based on the natural world. Offering appropriate resources organised in a way that allows all children to access them independently.

Services
Run by Manager Val Horspool, our staff team offers a valued balance of individual skills, experience and dispositions. There is a strong focus on professional development and Acorns regularly invests in training to ensure the members of staff are up to date on the latest concepts in early childhood education.

Outdoor Learning is a crucial element of the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) curriculum. Being outdoors has a positive impact on children's sense of well-being and helps with all aspects of children's development. It offers opportuniities for doing things in different ways and on different scales than indoors.
A day at Acorns offers children a mix of child and adult-led activities within a flexible routine. Acorns opens its doors at 7.30am for breakfast club. This is available to any pre-school children plus those older children attending Masham Primary School. After a healthy breakfast the children can take part in different acitivites and games before the older children are taken to school.
