Our setting is registered for 105 children and provides excellent indoor and outdoor facilities. Our building is single storey and conveniently situated in Bury. The nursery is easily accessible from across Bury and the surrounding areas and has excellent links to the M60, M66 and A58 for those travelling from further afield.

First Steps Nursery was registered in 2010 to provide high quality childcare for children in the Walshaw, Tottington, Elton, Woodbank and surrounding areas of Bury. The setting is registered for 146 children and provides excellent indoor and outdoor facilities. We pride ourselves on providing high quality, child-centred, holistic care for your child in a secure, comfortable setting.
With a staff to baby ratio of 1:3 our baby room is the most intimate and cosiest room. From day one we build good relationships with our parents and careers, working to your routine for your individual child. The nursery provides an online system (parent zone) in which parents can access throughout the day to let you know what activities your child has been participating in.
Our Happy Hedgehogs room caters for children aged 12 months to 2 years. This room is designed for children who are getting ready to explore the areas around them. The environment is set up to encourage children's independence. The room is spacious allowing inquisitive minds to explore.
The room offers a wide variety of activities for the children with a range of messy and creative activities such as sticking, painting and a well-equipped sand and water area.Our Dashing Deers room currently allows children from the age of two to thrive and develop whilst being encouraged to engage in play that appeals to them, with the staff supporting each individual child's learning and development.

First Steps Nursery is very proud of our Pre-School and the experiences we offer to the children who attend. Children who attend the Pre-School will have more of a structured day where there will be some direct teaching. The children will begin the Letters and Sounds programme which they will continue to develop through their first years at school.

All the staff are welcoming and responsive to my childs needs. He has multiple allergies and are always willing to support us in any way they can to make sure he is happy and comfortable. Their communication is excellent, I am very reassured that he is content whilst he is in their care with constant updates via the app and photos which let me know what he is getting upto in the day. The whole team go above and beyond to make sure we are happy with the childcare experience. I have looked at lots of other nurseries before choosing first steps day nursery and I am very happy with my choice.

My toddler who attends this nursery is on the Autistic Spectrum. I am extremely impressed with the way he is progressing with the support of the staff in particular his key worker. She is supporting and guiding my son way above what is required of her. She keeps him calm, focussed and allows him to participate according to his complex needs. She really is an absolute asset to this nursery as are all the staff. They are all very helpful and make me as a parent of an autistic child feel comfortable, relaxed and very grateful for the fantastic job that they do. I felt I had to post this to do justice

Both my children currently attend First Steps Nursery. I moved both my children shortly after they opened and i could not be more happier. It was a hard decision to change nurseries but was worth while. The staff are great and very supportive of my children needs. The owners are very much aware of how it is being a parent and my eldest has grown up with there's children at the nursery. Very pro active and always updating and modernising the nursery. Excellent experience and very much worth a visit. You feel at home as soon as you walk through the door.

My child has attended First Steps Nursery for the past 7 months having moved from another nursery near bye. It was hard to move our child but it has been great for his development. The transision was fantastic and the staff are very understanding and professional but at the same time offer that freindly reasurance to you as a parent. The nursery management team are very hands on and always around to deal with anything. A friendly Family place which is welcoming as soon as you walk through the door!
