My working assumption is that you are fairly clear on how the past influences the present, so the talking part of our session is generally focused on what you want to see unfolding. The images, ideas and intentions you generate are the seeds you will plant in the silent depths of the mind during hypnosis.

Trance is a natural, pleasurable and profound state of relaxation and focus. It dissolves anxiety while the session is taking place, and the suggestions left behind will help you respond to triggers afterwards in creative ways. If you are motivated to overcome your anxiety, improve your sleep patterns, extinguish a phobia or tackle chronic pain, hypnotherapy can help.

I came to hypnotherapy initially as a client, after a radio interview that went horribly wrong. After just one session my confidence speaking in front of crowds and on media had radically improved, and today I give talks around Europe. My second session years later tackled a response to a specific trigger that used to send me into a rage where I would lose all sense of proportion, along with my wits and my sense of humour.
Sleep disruption can be both a symptom and a cause of stress. Sleep is crucial for the formation and organisation of memories, and if our sleep is disrupted we may not process the anxieties of the day adequately. Beginning a new day with yesterday's problems feeds into a vicious cycle. Trance begins to process stress that may have been accumulating for a while, and can get sleep patterns under more control.
In our first session we will explore what you want to achieve and the potentials of the deep mind. It may take around 90 minutes, sessions after that are 50 minutes. Hypnotherapy requires your active participation - but it feels wonderful to do your homework. The beauty of trance is that it brings you safely and rapidly into a profound state of relaxation, often to a level that you may not have imagined was possible. The immediate effect is that anxiety begins to drain away. Simultaneously, trance prepares the mind to receive suggestions that funadamentally change the way it responds to the world it encounters.
Sometimes the primitive parts of our minds learn to associate some trigger with a massive rush of stress hormones. When the trigger is a black widow spider it is a helpful response that may keep us alive; but if the amygdala responds to lifts or needles by stimulating sweating, panic and a churning stomach, normal life can become difficult.
