The Ship Inn is a 17th century pub overlooking one of the most picturesque harbours in the country; come here in the summer to watch seabirds and fishermen go about their business in the sunshine, or brave the storms in winter to sip a perfectly poured pint by the large open fire. Beer mats and brasses adorn ceiling and walls in this old fisherman's haunt, whilst flagstones and floorboards lay under foot.
A terraced garden with ample seating gives a good vantage point to take inn the village with one of the 5 ales always on offer (These are usually Doom bar, Cornish coaster, Skinners Porthleven, The rebel Brewery's Cornish Honeytrap and a guest ale.) To the rear of the pub is the old Smithy (from the days when Porthleven exported china clay) this has been converted in to a function room with high speed internet, music and TV.

By far the most popular pub in Porthleven (in my opinion), which also means it's the busiest with a mix of tourists and locals.
It's a properly cosy pub that you could imagine pirates, smugglers, fisherman etc using in the past, if the walls could talk they'd be some.... interesting, stories I'm sure.
Nowadays it has a superb choice of cask and keg beer including Patchwork Rocket by Firebrand (cask) and the excellent Lightbulb by Verdant (keg) alongside lagers, a large selection of spirits and soft drinks.
Food is excellent, fresh and worth the wait... talking of which, waiting times have increased

Visited on Wednesday eve, everywhere was fully booked as you canβt just walk in.
Rolled up to the bar places food order and drinks sat outside to watch the beautiful sunset
Few others had fish and chips I had the pan fried sole soaked in butter with roast potatoes and fried off beans.
It was delicious, casual setting and friendly staff.
Worth a visit

My new favourite pub! It's an old style pub with a youthful vibe. The pub has great views over the harbour and has a number of other indoor and outdoor seating options. The staff at super friendly, even in these times of staff shortages, there is a good menu, with local produce, and a good selection of beers on tap. We had a light lunch, which was really reasonably priced and was great quality. I could see us having a cosy winter evening here, or a glorious pint on a sunny day, well worth the trip down the harbour!

Excellent historic pub with impressive food menu and views of picturesque harbour. Inside the pub is cosy, snug and old-fashioned. Outdoors there is lots of seating on staggered terraces above the pub, giving lovely views of the harbour. Sheltered from sun so can be chilly on cool days. Food menu contains common pub meals including burgers, steak, sandwiches/baguettes and fish & chips, with some unusual options such as crab. Food is very good quality. Staff are lovely.
