Services
The Fisherbeck Hotel is a beautiful stone building, parts of which date back to the first half of the 17th century, with further extensions added during the Victorian era. The oldest building was a tannery nearby The Little Beck River, whilst the main building was a wedding present given to his daughter by a gentleman.

The room itself was clean and the staff were all very welcoming and nice. Just one thing that we were abit confused about was our room hasn’t been done at all within our 4 nights stay and I am unsure if it was because of Covid? We did get some fresh towels after we asked for it but just no one came in to clean and make up the bed. Other than that it was a really lovely stay here and we definitely enjoyed it.

First impression was good, a very pretty patio/terrace area and parking is good here for the centre of Ambleside. The hotel and room decor have an oriental feel to them, most probably because of the ownership. A matter of personal taste, it wasnt mine but there was nothing wrong with it. Room was clean and the bed comfortable. No English breakfast tea in our room. Jasmine, Earl Grey etc. Again, not sure if this was deliberate due to Oriental influence or just an innocent omission as there was English Breakfast at the breakfast table the next day. Breakfast was amazing. Great choice of food, nicely

A very enjoyable stay. Excellent accommodation and a very tasty breakfast. All the staff were friendly and helpful. We would definitely try here again if we re-visit Ambleside as it is ideally positioned between the Lake and the town centre.

A warm welcoming building, staff are so friendly and always go the extra mile. Breakfast was perfect with lots of selections, no complaints at all! Handy bar and lounge at the fisherbeck, to watch the world pass by! Ample on site parking too. Had the weather been warmer and dryer we would of made use of the outdoor seating area. Refurbishment work was being carried out but no disturbance whatsoever.. Recommended....

This hotel has recently been refurbished (still ongoing!), so the rooms are well made up with internet TVs etc. and the outside is a nice place to sit on an evening.
I cannot rate the staff (particularly Gabrielle and the other cleaners) highly enough as they were all so helpful and made us feel well looked after. I think once the staff and owners have made the hotel what they want and have settled this will be a fantastic place to stay.
The location is just outside the main town centre so it's quiet (except for the road), but close enough to get everywhere quickly. Go around the back to avoid

I only leave reviews when the experience was exceptionally good or exceptionally bad. The Fisherbeck at Ambleside fits firmly into the latter. There are two primary problems with this place, either of which would be enough to make the place simply unfit to rent out to paying customers for this price.
First, the toilet and shower facilities are antiquated and extremely unclean - the shower walls are covered with mould between the tiles. I would not expect hostels to have this level of lack of hygiene, and am sorely disappointed that I had to experience it at a so-called 4 star hotel.
Second, the

Delightful place. Currently undergoing some remodelling but that did not affect our stay. Stylish B&B with a fantastic breakfast. There is an outside bar area which is open in the evening but they do not currently do evening meals. Since Ambleside is full of great eateries that is not a problem. We had a room near the back of the hotel and it was very well appointed complete with a Nespresso machine. Other useful gizmos included an iron, a kettle, hair dryer and a fan The ensuite shower room was great. Staff were all very friendly and helpful despite the place being very busy.

Great place to stay! Great Breakfast! The Staff were fantastic and they all went above and beyond to make sure we had a good time!
I stayed with my 2 year old son too who they treated so well! They left balloons to play with in the room and they gave him some food to feed the fish in the morning too which he loved!
Highly recommended and would 100% stay again!
I'd give more than 5 stars if I could

We recently stayed at this hotel for 5 nights, we had an amazing stay. The hotel manager was very friendly and hospitable. We arrived back to the hotel at around 7pm after a day of hiking and there was no parking available, the manager moved his car and gave us his spot. The rooms were clean, modern and comfortable and breakfast was fantastic with lots of variety. The location was fantastic, I would definitely stay here again.
