If you enjoy eating food produced under dubious (to say the least) hygiene standards, coupled with a culture of extreme bullying, look no further than the Windermere restaurant. I once witnessed chef Nigel Harper use the bathroom for what I believe to be a number 2, only to leave without washing his hands. I also witnessed but had no part in the serving of dairy ice cream to 39 vegans, which was quickly hushed up and never mentioned again.

Amazing hotel. Lovely staff. Gorgeous views of Lake Windermere. The new spa is beautiful and so relaxing, such a nice treat. The wood smoked afternoon tea and prosecco flight, was very tasty. A nice modern and meaty (hot) take on a traditional (cold) afternoon tea. Highly recommended and can't wait to go back again soon! 10/10!!

Booked here, then read the small print and cancelled again as I cannot stand hotels that claim to be spa hotels, but then charge you extra to use the basic spa facilities such as pool or steam room. The spa is also open to the public so is always packed with non hotel residents. It should say low wood bay hotel, with near by spa at additional cost!!

Hotel is in a great location, the rooms are very nice, and the view of the lake is amazing. The Spa is also fantastic. The Spa staff & staff at the restaurant are lovely and welcoming.
NEGATIVES:
That being said I think it is let down a bit by the reception staff. e.g. trying to be smart, but wearing scruffy waistcoats with trainers. Not very welcoming. Breakfast is very outdated. There was rubbish left outside rooms. Our room wasn't cleaned/made up each day. There was a hatch open outside our room left open all night into the basement which left a cold draft.

Excellent food and service here. We visited to celebrate my wife's birthday. We both had the rib eye steak and it was excellent. The prices were very reasonable, two steaks a bottle of wine and two peroni were £78. Definitely recommend this place, if you want the view then visit in the day for their wood fired afternoon tea.

Wood fired afternoon tea looked good but was poorly executed. The skillets were all cold, even the small separate ones that are easily heated. As a result, 90% of the food was pretty cold or just slightly warm.. The salmon was about 2cm square each, the brownie was less than that! All in all, not very much food for too much money and disappointingly cold

Where do i start... AMAZING from start to finish. So i had planned to propose to my now fiance and the staff were brilliant and very helpful with all of the planning leading up to it. The spa is by far the best we've ever used and the hotel is just incredible. We find low wood bay our new favourite place to visit in the uk and we cant wait to visit again. Thank you so much to all the team at low wood bay you guys are fantastic.

Wow!! What a fabulous afternoon we had at the spa! It was a wonderful experience from the moment you stepped into the spa reception to using all the facilities there. The 3 hour experience wasn’t enough and we could have stayed all day. Everything was well laid and and created! We absolutely loved the views of the lake when we were in both and indoor and outdoor infinity pools!! The coconut steam room was amazing! My skin felt so much better!! Will definitely return next time for another indulgence!!

The most amazing place! Spent an afternoon in the spa doing the thermal journey and had a massage. From the minute you walk in the door you know you are somewhere special. The staff are fantastic, friendly, warm and enthusiastic. From the front of house staff to the cleaning staff everyone is cheery and says hello. The lunch was delicious we cannot fault anything about Low Wood. I cannot wait for our return visit.
