Services
The Regent Hotel has been run by our family since 1980, and we pride ourselves on our warm welcome & relaxed, friendly hospitality. Our 35 beautiful bedrooms, famous late-late breakfast, and Cumbrian cuisine make The Regent Hotel one of the best places in the Lake District to stay. Our location is perfect for exploring the area without your car, as we're close to bus stops and lake cruises, and around 1 mile from the centre of Ambleside village.
After discovering the hotel was for sale in a chance passing through Ambleside, Brian Hewitt purchased the property at auction, arrived with his belongings, and switched on the water - which promptly began to run down the stairs!
Brian and his wife Christine - along with their three sons - opened the hotel to guests at Easter 1980 (and after one or two over-bookings resulting in them having to give up their own bedrooms) they turned the hotel around.40 years on, The Regent Hotel is an established (and still family-run) hotel, with 35 beautiful bedrooms, Table 22 Restaurant and The Deck - our outside bar overlooking Lake Windermere.

Our lovely restaurant Table 22's new, seasonal spring menu launches today and we're very excited! Our team of creative chefs have been working hard to conjure up a fantastic selection of exciting, memorable and most importantly delicious dishes for our resident and non resident guests to enjoy. We will start with what's new, and well, a must try.
The hotel is just a gentle walk from the picturesque village of Ambleside. From our front door you can walk the fells, cruise England's largest lake, explore the Roman fort in Borrans Park, and enjoy Ambleside's amazing array of outdoor shops, cafes and restaurants.
The bay is surrounded by traditional Lakeland slate houses, hotels, restaurants & cafes, and is a bustling destination for those hiring a rowing boat, catching a lake cruise or feeding the ducks! The views from the bay are stunning, stretching across the lake to the Langdale Pikes and beyond. And a short walk round the head of the beautiful bay is Borrans Park in which you can enjoy a picnic or examine the remains of the Roman Fort of Galava.

Amazing and very helpful staff. Breakfast staff made me a latte every morning although it's not part of the breakfast. Great choice of meals from the restaurant...salmon my favourite! Beautiful clean bedroom and lots of walking routes! Great morning and late evening walks on the pier. A BIG THANK YOU FOR A BRILLIANT STAY!!
